My clock and temperature display is dim

Hi, this will happen over a period of time and its just heat related. the control panel isn't insulated properly and , there has been a larger than normal transfer of heat to the inside of the control panel where the circuits are housed.

If this is a problem, i recommend replacing the control board. it will fix the dim issue.

Display on my Jenn-Air electric wall oven is very dim

douglas9101,
I had the same problem and found the solution on-line.
Replace the C3 capacitor on the dispaly module. (100 UF, 35 volt, high temperature)
The local Jenn Air dealer wanted $211 for a new display module.
I purchased a Cap from a local electronics supply store for 79cents.
The only problem is that you need to have a soldering pencil/iron, a solder ******/wick and a small amount of solder.

Steps I had to take on my oven:
- Flip the AC breaker supplying the oven to off to be save
- remove 3 screws on top and 4 on the bottom of the display panel
- gently pull out the display panel and unplug the 2 cables to the display
- unclip the ribbon cable to the display module
- unclip the module itself by pushing on the 2 black tabs
- locate C3
- unsolder C3 and replace with new Cap- keeping the polarity strip the same as theh old Cap
- reasemble in reverse order.

It took me all of 20 minutes. It may sound difficult but is very easy if you have the tools
Good Luck

Oven digital display not working well

I got your fix no prob. This is going to cost you a buck fifty, that's $1.50, I say it again...one dollar and fifty cents! Got your attention yet?
Here's the solution to a dim display or non working display when the oven otherwise works.
1. Turn off your circut breakers to your oven, then remove the display and control panel via the screws you see on the top or underneith. There will be about 4-7 screws based on your model oven. You'll pull it either up or down depending on the model by grabbing with both hands on either side of the panal after you have removed the screws. 2. Carfully remove the three or four ribbon cables connecting the display panal to the oven electrically. This should be done carfully and only after the power is shut off to your ovens by the circut breaker or unplugging them. 3. Pull the display panel out by unlatching the black plastic snap holders. Using a soldering iron (costs about 15 bucks at radio shack), remove the C3 (68uF 35V) capacitor from the board. Replace it with the 100uF 35V capacitor from radio shack or digikey for $1.50 +tax. If you don't know how to solder, well you can learn for about 15 minutes of your time, or you'll have to resort to paying your repair man over 300 bucks to fix it himself and the best part. HE CAN'T SOLDER EITHER! He'll replace the whole display LCD because that's the most profitable choice for him and Jenn-Air/Matag. 4. After getting upset at how easy this fix was, put the oven together and rejoice that you just fixed your display problem for less then 2 dollars and about and hour of your time considering the search the brought you here. Cheers to you and to me for letting you know about this. Share all the knowledge you have with others. It's free money!

Jenn air oven

More then likely your electronic clock control board is going bad. After turning the power off, you can also try cleaning the connectors on the clock board and make sure the connectors are tight.

Oven digital lighted display is dim

I replaced the C3 capacitor on the circuit board and works fine. This was mentioned in a prior post and took 5 minutes and was under $5.00 for the part.
