C5280 Will not go beyond 96% After USB plug in (on instruction)

But, I do have connection, somehow.

Problem. Printer disconnects on some windows updates, which have to be taken out by System restore. Printer then reconnects.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall at least a dozen times. Have tried from disc and other means. After uninstall is done I can still print documents. I try and reinstall from disc and message states a newer version already installed. I downloaded from HP and reinstall and stops at 96%. Can print and scan from printer. Unable to scan from computer. Solution center is not available and does not show up in program menu. I have contacted HP Support at least a dozen times. I have installed more memory. USB ports have been reinstalled.
HP C5280 All-inOne 6 months and still under warranty. I feel I will have to replace with another brand, even though I like this one.
    Thanks,

Already installed printer, but a message continuously comes up that it is configuring at 96% and has a fatal error.

The best solution from Juve83 does not solve anything other than asking the question about windows version. I have windows XP and I have the same problem when installing drivers for HP Photosmart 5280. None of the applications recognise the existance of the printer but I can print a Test Page using HP Solution Center. A great product I wont recommend to anyone.

There are many variations on problems with HP printer install. A crude method which worked for me on 2 occasions was simply to pull printer power cord out and reinsert after 30 secs. The installation may then complete. This is suggested by HP but you may not have tried it.

I have had many of problems with HP printer installs on different PCs and OS versions. In some cases if you just install the drivers only and ignore the bloated software that comes with them you can get a working setup. Use other applications for scanning etc..
I have had HP printers working fine only for XPSP3 to come along and render them useless.
Following HPs instructions for level 1.2.3.4 uninstall and reinstall may work also. Firewall and antivirus off is strogly advised.
Good luck.

Printer Alignment Failed in HP C5280

You must replace both with new GENUINE HP ink cartridges at the same time or alignment will fail.
