You will have to move the "Jumper Block" on the jumper pins to reset your BIOS. Typically it's near the 3v battery. It will be 3 pins with a jumper block on 2 of the pins. Be sure your computer is off, move the jumper block over so that it is on pins 1 & 2, instead of 2 & 3, or vise versa. Then power on the computer. It may not boot up all the way or not at all. Every computer is a little different. Every motherboard is configured a little differently, so the pins might not be near the battery. Look for some pins that say BIOS or CMOS next to them. Those will likely be the ones. Often it will even say Reset next to them.

Look closely at the motherboard, for 3 gold pins in a row, with a "jumper" between two of the pins, say pin 1 (end) and pin 2 (centre).

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Move the jumper to connect pin 2 (centre) to pin 3 (other end).
Count to five.
Move the jumper back to its original position.

Voila! You have "reset" the BIOS, and have deleted the password.

Last six i didn't use my dell gx270 now i forget its bios password .Plz help me

You'll have to remove the the RTC clock battery to reset the BIOS, it's located on your motherboard. It's usually a coin-sized metallic thingy placed in a holder.

Unplug the power cord, remove the battery and push the frontside power button a couple of times to bleed it, then leave it for 5 minutes. Then replug it and start it up without the battery and check that it's reset (i.e. you should now be able to enter the BIOS hassle free).
If it's not the case, reboot the computer and repeat.

Turn it off and unplug it again and put the RTC battery back in place, and don't forget to set the time and date since it's now reset.

I locked my pc with bios password .Now ,after longtime,i forget it ,Plz help me to unlock my pc.my pc is dell gx270

Switch off your computer and remove the power cord from socket. You'll have to open the computer case, locate a battery on the motherboard - usually a lithium battey looking something like this:
e834263.jpg

Carefully remove it from it's holder and wait, say, 10 minutes. Reinsert the battery, and power up the computer. It should have lost all the setup settings, along with the password.
Go to setup (usually pressing F2 on start) and load default setup values using a corresponding option in the menu.

How do I reset my lost bios password for Dell Precision M70

Hi,
If you cannot access the machine after if has been powered up, it is still possible to get past the BIOS password. The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.
On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper. This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.
If all else fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (Integrated Circuit) on your motherboard.
The BIOS password may be cleared from a Dell Optiplex by removing the password jumper (PSWD) from the motherboard.
The location of the password jumper on a Dell Optiplex motherboard can be found by reviewing the Optiplex User Guides.
For most Dell Optiplex desktops, the steps to reset a BIOS password and clear all CMOS settings are:
  • Locate the 3-pin CMOS password reset jumper on the system board.
  • Remove the jumper plug from pins 1 and 2.
  • Place the jumper plug on pins 2 and 3 and wait approximately 5 seconds.
  • Replace the jumper plug on pins 1 and 2.
Each Dell Inspiron has a master password which will clear the BIOS password. You can get this number by calling Dell Technical Support at (800)624-9896.
Dell Technical Support will request the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the bottom of your Inspiron.

Thank You,
Your Support Tech.

Bios default password

The BIOS default password is just blank, and it is not asked.

When you set a bios password, you are asked to enter a value, therefore if bios is asking the password, the password had been changed.

To reset the bios password if you do not know the password you need to access to motherboard and temporarily remove battery for few seconds.
Removing battery will reset bios and delete the password.
Unplug power cord before accessing the motherboard, and try not touching the motherboard with your finger.
Put battery back in place before restarting computer.
