Acquiring satellite troubleshoot

My garmin says acquiring satellite. What do i do

    this is not an answer. the problem is software - you can search for that problem, finding sats should be relatively fast - 10-20 seconds - that is what i had. recently some slowness appeared and it searches sats for 1-3 minutes, other people have up to 10 minutes. usually deep reinstall helps, but so far i found couple procedures (via webupdate and via pressing left upper corner of Nuvi etc) which might help but not for 100%

Cannot acquire satellites and freezes

Hi,
use the web-updater at garmin
or update the firmware at garmin,
turn WAAS on

turn GPS signal off
go outside after the update
turn GPS signal back on ( takes upto 15 mins to locate satelites )

should be good

never buy magellan there junk lol and the problem you are having is a broken flip out antenna on the back of your unit ..it is common with the older flip antennas just buy a external antenna from garmin and fixed .......if not send it back to garmin because its hardware is bad

Garmin Nuvi takes a long time to Acquire satellite

No. 98% of the time it took 45-56 seonds for your NUVI 660. Thats the compagny set up time acquisition and it did very well.

Be sur you had your flip antenna parallel to earth surface.
660 has THE BEST SIRF Chipset for acquiring satellite.

I had 2 NUVI 660 since 2 years. It work much better than those new 7xx series who it really took 2-3 minutes to acquire satellite.

Be sure you update your version to the last one.

try pushing the reset button on the back of the unit and then it should restart and acquire the satellites
