Loud banging during spin cycle

To me washers are a mystery so I really have no idea where to even begin. anyway, beginning yesterday evening we did some laundry and during the spin cycle there was a slight knocking sound as if something was off balance, when I looked everything looked to be in order and the cycle was almost done so I just watched to make sure nothing went crazy. Things finished up and I just assumed that the clothes were just off balance.
Today we ran another load and this time it was much louder (kind of BANG BANG BANG BANG). Again it was at the end of the final spin cycle.
I'm sure this is probably an easy thing to diagnose, but I really just don't know where to start.
again it is a kenmore front loader.

Loud banging noise during spin cycle

If you balanced the machine, the only other problem could be the load itself. Either the load is too great or if washing a single item its falling to one side, tilting the drum and when spinning it will thump. Try even lodes.

Loud metal grinding noise during wash cycle kenm ore 11020022011

All Kenmores are the bottom of the line appliances. If under warranty, call Sears. Your machine has problems. May be on it's last legs. None of these sounds are 'normal'. Motors wearing out, likely.

Loud banging noise during rinse

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the rinse or spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. This will solve your problem.

Kenmore 80 series has loud banging sound during the spin cycle

I had a washer that at the beginning of the spin cycle it was fine, but when the water was half drained it would begin making a banging noise. When the draining reach the bottom and the spin speed increased it was fine. Finally found the problem - What happened was the tabs that hold the control arms for the brake had loosened. During the spin cycle especially in the middle of the cycle (when torque was at the maximum and speed was at medium. The brake spring would flex out due to compression and hit the some extended metal tab on the brake housing. Once the speed increased and the torque reduced the spring no longer hit the housing tabs. Fix the problem by bending the tabs that hold the brake control arms in place to better hold the control arms in the proper location.

Washer agitates off balance and makes a loud banging sound until movement stops at the beginning of rinse cycle, advice?

If it makes this noise in the agitate mode and not during the spin cycle, I would suspect that the transmission is going.

Hello calmtouch,

You said,
When in spinning cycle, the barrel begins to move all over banging the washer across the floor. I don't even know what to look for.
Help.

sounds like the coupling connecting the tub to the transmission may be loose and throwing the wash tub out of rotation causing the banging and walking washer.
Bless You

Loud screaming sound during spin cycle

The screaming noise is probably from a dry bearing in the motor, it will probably come and go and shouldnt cause to much problem, they are supposed to be self lubricating but sometime they run dry.
