Phillips 28PW6006/05-Locked we have owned this tv for approximately 5years the model number is Phillips 28PW6006/05and for no reason it shows Locked on the screen can you please help as our remote control is broken and we are unable to get the tv to work

That's a fairly old TV...The locked means that specific circuitry is locked because if running it would cause a major problem, and that is also why it shuts off. You are going to have to find someone familiar with Phillips TV's.

That problem is one of the common problems of plasma TV (have sounds but no picture)..As a expert of flat panel for more than 5 years I already encounter that kind of problem many times..

Actually that problem is caused of either X,Y or Z sustain board or even both 3 boards are faulty..Because some models when the one of those boards have short circuit or bad there are possibility that other sustain board are affected..But most the problem like yours is "Y-SUSTAIN" board..

I can't find your model online please double check it it either Phillips 42PFP5332D/37 or 42PFP5532D/05

And for specific and easy way to find replacement please try to look at the part # of that board (it is usually printed on the sticker attach to the board itself..

Most common reason is shorted convergence chips. Goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and get their "chirping set" repair kit. 

Please post the model of your TV. 0711 is a default code to access the blocking menu items on some Phillips TVs. have you tried changing the channel. maybe it's just the one channel is blocked. More likely the TV may be in a blocked mode. If you have the manual there should be instructions to reset the blocked mode. There are manuals online. Use Google or any other search and type in your model number and "manual."

Before you begin, ensure you have connected your DVD player to your TV and both have the power on. Once you have connected the TV, follow the instructions below.

-- Open the disc tray
-- On the remote control, press in sequence:
Disc Menu
Stop
7 3 4 4 6 6 0
OK
-- Make sure Region 0 is showing on the TV.
