The set will need to be properly diagnosed to narrow down the problem. You could be looking at a bad inverter, bad CCFL lamp, fault in power supply or main board.
The backlight inverter which is also part of the power supply needs to be replaced. If you feel comfortable you can replace the blown capacitors on it.
Tv turn on now, does it have a flashes of picture only a few second than dies and than have only sound left?Yes,than the tv 2 long LCD inverter boards are dead. These 2 long LCD inverter boards are one to the left one to the right both must be replace. The 2 long LCD inverter boards job are to help the LCD screen panel to have a backlight to produced a picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy those 2 LCD inverter boards for the replacement.
The problem can be bad caps in the power supply, or the backlight inverter board is bad, depends on how much you know about repairing electronics, you may want to look inside first for bad caps. You can look for replacement boards here: www.shopjimmy.com
But report back what you see inside first so we can you further. My had scrambled picture after warm up, yours will more likely to have this problem later on also. http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/LTV-32W3HD/
This is inverter or backlighting problem. Can you try switching it on and off quickly for a couple of times and tell me if these '2 seconds' get any longer'. If picture stays longer and longer before shutting down, one lamp needs replaced-if not, please replace inverter board
Could be the signal board has a bad cap, in this case it sounds like you are getting intermitten power to the inverters....when the tv goes down and of course you have audio....Shine a flashlight on to screen and see if you have a picture...look carefully. If this is the case..you have the above problem!
It sounds like you have a power supply problem, this powers the inverter! Where you just replaced the inverter, we could assume it is good! Look for
some bad caps (capacitors) on the power supply board. They will look bulged on the
top an may be a little leaky (brownish stain). The power supply can fail on some output and be good on others. Was the back light inverter new? If all else fails, see if you can return the back light inverter and get another! I hope this is helpful!!
If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on. If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.
