White vertical line

My EP709 has worked like a dream for 9 months. Didn't use it for a month and now I have an occasional / intermittent narrow white vertical line that flashes on and off (on the same line to the left of centre) for a minute or so then is gone again for half an hour or so before reappearing. What is happening please / can I do about it, please?

SOURCE: Vertical white line

My EP719 had the same problem. Did it once, briefly, soon after I bought it, then not again until recently, when the line came back more frequently and wider.

The projector was 20 days past warranty, and the company would not honor. So much for customer satisfaction and loyalty. Last piece of Optoma equipment I will ever buy!

Anyway, I found a web item on another model of Optoma projector with the same problem. The solution this guy tried was -- I kid you not -- rapping on the thing. With nothing to lose, I tried this on mine. Tapped lightly on the top and noticed a change in the width of the line. Hmmm ... it was sensitive to this.

Tapped harder. The line got narrower. Rapped pretty hard -- thump! -- and the line disappeared.

Since then I have been running the projector for hours, turning it on and off, letting it cool down, starting it up again. And the line seems to be gone. It may come back, of course, so this gonzo fix may not be permament. But if it works while I'm using it at a presentation, think of the amusement it will cause!

How about sending it back to the company? Since you are in the US (unlike me), they should be able to fix it.

Hi Abouttime

This is unfortunately a sign of Mainbaord damage to any make of Projector.

But do give this a go , you've got nothing to lose.

Try using a different signal cable and then pressing Auto on either the remote of the Projector or the Projector it self once the line appears.

Thanks for using Fixya !

SOURCE: VERTICAL WHITE LINES

I just read a post that said tap on the top and the line will go away. I tried it on mine and it worked! I had to tap it fairly hard. I just kept tapping harder and harder on the plastic in front of the buttons and voila! The vertical white line disappeared!

We have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000 flat screen television. About 6 months ago, the screen started displaying white, green and black vertical lines and dots. This continued for a few weeks and then the...

It's a connection inside the TV that's faulty. It could be as simple as reseating the ribbon cables that connect the control board to the glass display. Or it could be that the fault is on the board and needs to be replaced. The fact that the problem comes and goes should tell you it's fixable.

Epson Stylus r220 prints with white lines... i installed a CIS and it worked fine for about 6 months, now i'm getting prints with white lines (or fine spots) i tried nozzle check, which comes out good......

Nozzle check must perfect for perfect output. There are tranversal lines at vertical straight lines that represent same point of head micro piezo. If tranversal lines no clog at all, but vertical straight lines not perfectly straight, the result not good (like horizontal white banding). Check it? Head aligment is for vertical banding. If your result is horizontal banding, you don't need to realign head. It's caused by some residual at the output of head sprayer. So, the spray of ink not straight to paper. Try to print with photo/best photo.

Thin vertical line appears on projector

I have found that vertical lines that suddenly appear from projectors are due to poorly connected cables. Sut off your projector and wait for the fan to go off. Then unplug the connectors from the computer to the projector and secure them again, making sure to go all the way. Hope this helps.

Sound but no picture except for a couple of horizontal colour lines
Replaced the frame chip TDA8356, set now ok

Horizontal white lines at top of screen.

This problem is generally due to aged Electrolytic capacitors in the Vertical section. Again, to save time, I invariably replace all the 8-10 El caps in this stage at one go. solves the problem, saves time, and also protects the customer from bringing in the machine again in another 2-3 months, for another bad capacitor problem.
