This is usualy an idication that the overload and relay on the compressor itself may be bad
if you replace both you should be ok

Hi,
You can start with replacing the start capacitor and relay to see if the compressor will run again, but you have about a 50 -50 chance that the compressor has gone bad and will need to be replaced....

Subzero 532 refrig fan(& compressor) doesn't shut off

the higher the number on a fridge the warmer it is so setting it to 1 is close to 0C
when working on a fridge or freezer always turn it off at the wall
if the fridge is keep cold but not cold enough set it back to say 3
if the compressor is running and the back fins / wall is hot then the fridge is working
use a piece of paper between the door seal and the fridge edge to ensure that it is sticking to the fridge and sealing off properly

Frigidaire freezer compressor is hot to the touch and not cold inside

If the compressor is hot, then the temperature inside the unit may be compromised if there is a sealed system issue or a restriction in the unit. Call a professional to be safe.

Side by side Admiral freezer freezes but fridge

check the damper vent door between the refrige and freezer and make sure its opening up to let cold air from freezer into the refrige, sometimes they freeze up and cant open and close when called upon to do so,if so deice it with a hair dryer, the side being hot is good telling you the compressor is operating correctly

My kenmore refrigerator isn't getting cold enough

Solution for laywoman, running off from normal is not a good description. Say is is not cold enough for your use, the normal range is 0 def for freezer and 44 for refrig.
If is is bit warm, say 50 deg refrig, 10 deg freeer. then check it the evaporator coils a frosting up. Check by pressing against the back suface and listen for ice build up back there. Do you remember the refrigerator defrosting ?, and listening for the condensate to drip into the pan on a daily basis, say about 6 hours. and next check your condenser under the refrig. vacuum and brush clean the asselmbly. of condenser radiator coils. Was there water liquid. water , a bit, in the water pan. How is refrig operating now?
Not good enough, then pull the or say unscrew the screws holding the back panel. See the black can compressor, with pipe tubes sticking out. While running. it may be that the tube on the left is cooler than the one on thel right. Is the warmer tube very hot to the touch.
If the tube temperatures are not too different to the hand touch feeling, OR if the back freezer surfaces are frosting it is time to call for a tradesman. Good Luck..

Side by side refridge was dirty and I cleaned

I would pull the refrig out , and remove the back panel , covering the compressor and fan motor . Check to see if the fan is working . Fan not working , causes the divider panel , to get very hot . Also , fan not working , causes the compressor to over heat and cut off on the overload .

Refrigerator/Freezer not cooling

check freezer for frost build up and if fan blowing, check condenser make sure clean, and fan blowing, by compressor Make sure compressor is running and not shutting off on overload.. u said comp. hot.. should be warm... Not hot check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, freezer control should be in the middle setting, you can try turning that to Warmer freezer allowing MORE air to refrigertor side.
