I am having problems with my panasonic DMREX75EB dvd recorder auto tuning itself to Wenvoe (welsh) transmitter instead of Mendip (West). I know that a manual tune could get round this but can't find a way of doing it. It appears from the manual that this was possible for analogue channels but only auto restart for digital channels - any ideas please?

You will need to manually tune to your preferred transmitter. The Humax will tune to the first decent signals it finds, so if signals from the Welsh transmitter are good and found before the transmitter you want, it will use them.
Or, you may be able to unlpug the aerial, start the auto retune, then replace the aerial after about 25% of the scan completes. You may need to adjust the % before replacing the aerial to ensure that only (and all) wanted channels are received.
The tuner in the DMR-58H is a NTSC tuner (analog). Unless you have a low power station in your area, you will need a digital-to-analog converter box to record OTA stations. It can record analog cable without a box as well. (Digital cable will require a box.)
Cindy Wells (at least in my area there is only one station broadcasting an analog signal; it is a low-power transmitter and thus wasn't required to upgrade to digital with the rest of the stations.)
could be its not digital, so it will not pick up any channels as they are now all digital not terestrial through the aerial like the y used to be. you need a digi box now to plug the recorder into
make sure aerial is in dvd recorder press functions move down to others press enter move down to setup and enter highlight tuning move right and down to auto setup reset and enter
tou will see a warning message move to yes and enter the dvd recorder will start tuning and a list of all the stations that been found will be displayed after that it will start to scan for analog stations( BEEN TURNED OFF) once finished
picture will be displayed
if no list was seen when tuning in digital stations then make sure dvd is digital
and to check aerial put direct in to didgtal tv and retune tv
That will be a problem from the text side of the broadcast, the clock is set from the text transmission, ( in other words a problem from the transmitter ) possibly due to digital switchover or work on the transmitters. One possible solution would be to turn off auto clock setting, and/or auto summer time adjustment.
Is your recorder hooked up to the new convert box for digital antenna reception? I am currently researching the convert boxes for my dvd recorder. I found that some dvd recorders already have digital converter boxes already installed. This might be the case for you.
If your cable is connected with just a scart lead (in AV2) you just put the recorder onto the AV2 channel. You need to connect the cable decoder to the recorder via an arial lead to be able to tune it in but there is no need just use the AV channel.
I had the same problem with my first unit, took it back they had to unscrew it all to get me back my DVD. They gave me a new machine. Checked it out seems it's a Auto Tuning problem, i went into the menu and restricted the auto tuning, problem is now, every time i switch it on it wants to update the tuning!! Pain in the ass. Contemplating taking it back again. Panasonic said it must be a one off, they hadn't had any other complaints!! Yeah right.
