There is no reset button on this camera. For reseting it follow these steps (from the MANUAL, page 122):

1 In the Setup Menu , select Reset Settings....
2 In the Reset All Settings? sub-menu, highlight one of these
two choices:
? Cancel ? Exits the menu without resetting any of the
settings.
? Yes ? Resets all camera settings to their default value in
the Capture Menu and Setup Menu (except Date & Time,
Language, TV Configuration, and USB Configuration).
3 Press Menu/OK to reset settings and return to the Setup Menu.

SOURCE: R707 Fails diagnostic test 10 (strobe)

I found my answer to this on another board. Remove the battery and SD card. Use a paperclip to press in the small siver dot above the + sign for about 10 seconds. This resets the firmware.  It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you too.

My hp photosmart r707 keeps saying the card is unreadable, buti just used it yesterday. i cant reset it either. it wont let me and the computer wont read it

Sounds like you're connecting things like your camera or your card in a card reader and just yanking them out of your computer without using the "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom right of your computer screen.

Photosmart r707 menu button doesn't work and the card is un readable

I'm having the same problem with my own HP R707. I'm finding that the only solution is to do a hard reset on the firmware or whatever, but taking the battery and mem-card out and putting a paper clip into the tiny hole in there and hold it for 6 seconds.

It seems like turning the camera on is like playing roulette anymore where one or two or all the buttons will not work, warranting a hard reset. I've updated the firmware and still have the same problem. I'm starting to see why this model is discontinued.

R707 lens open, lcd shows hp, beeps, then turn OFF

Try to reset the camera - remove the battery and press the reset switch for about 5 seconds. Reinsert the battery. If it works while connected to the charger, your battery needs to be replaced.
