I'm trying to find learn button on merlin 430r garage door opener

Hi,

The location of this button should be described in the products manual. If you don't currently have this manual, please reach out the manufacturer via phone or email and request a copy be sent to you. Thank you.

I have a Raynor (Flitestar) garage door opener. I am trying to program a universal remote (Brand name Chamberlain). The directions tell me to locate the "Learn" button. I can not find the learn button

you will have to remove the cover from the control unit and there will be a small button to press --probably have learn under it
press that and then program the remote to the controller

How to set garage door opener

Hi,

Find where the antenna comes out of the garage door opener motor and look for either a learn button or a set of switches. (You may need to remove the lens cover from the motor head). If the antenna is not found, look for a wall-mounted external receiver with antenna. It should also have a removable cover.

To program using the learn function, push the learn button on the garage door opener motor. An indicator light should turn on and glow steadily. You now have 30 seconds.

Press and hold the corresponding learn button on the remote. Stop once the motor light blinks instead of remaining solid.

To program a switch-type opener, again take the cover off of the motor unit or wall mounted receiver (wherever the antenna is located). You should see either 8, 9, or even 12 switches that may have two or three positions each.

Open the battery cover on your remote to locate the remote switches. For every switch on the motor, set the remote switch to the exact same position. Open = Off / Closed = On. This is where the pen or small screwdriver may come in handy for moving the switches.

Close the battery cover and test the opener. If all switches match, it should work immediately.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

I have bought an additional remote which I must programme with my centurion sliding gate motor. I need some assistance, but I don't want the other remotes to go out of sync. Please assist. Thanx Dawie

Steps to Programming Centurion Nova Remotes

1. Unlock the motor cover with your Centurion Key, remove this cover.

2. Inside the perspex enclosure there is a small Receiver Board (approx size of a matchbox), identified by wording CENTURION CP9Z, also has the wording J1-Learn; J2-Erase.

3. There will be a small 'shunt' placed on one of the pins labelled J1, J2 or the centre pin - these are the 'Learn' pins.

4. Remove this shunt and place it over (or bridge) the J1 and centre pin together. The red LED Status light, to the left of the Learn Pins will illuminate.

5. Remove the new Remote/Transmitter from its packaging, hold down the required button once and the red LED Status light on the Receiver Board will flash once indicating that the button has been learned. As soon as the light has flashed, remove your finger from the button.

6. If further Remotes/Transmitters are to be added to the system, repeat step 5.

7. Ensure that you now remove the 'shunt' and place it back onto the blank or J2 pin - do not leave it bridging two pins.

8. Close the enclosure, place the motor cover back onto the motor and lock in place.

Door is opening randomly

Look at the LED light next to the SMART/LEARN button on rear of the motor unit. You may need to remove a light lens cover in order to see it. If the light is flashing rapidly this means you have a stuck button on one of your remote controls. Take the batteries out of each remote control. When you remove the batteries from the bad remote, the light will stop flashing. This remote needs to be replaced.

If one of your neighbors remote controls is inadvertently programmed into your receiver, you door will open when their remote is activated. If this happens you will need to clear out your receiver and reprogram your remote controls. Press and hold the smart/learn button for 6 seconds or until you see the small LED light near the button turn itself off. If the above steps have been followed and the symptoms continue, there may be an electronic short in either the wall control button or the receiver logic board. In this case, remove the wall control wires from terminals 1 and 2 on the motor unit. Should the symptoms persist after the wires are removed, replace the receiver logic board. If the symptoms stop with the wall control wires removed from the motor unit, replace the wall control button, and the wires leading to the wall control button.
