I have a back to basics blender express and I can't get it opened to fix it. I have removed all the screws on the bottom but I still can't get the bottom off. Does anyone have any ideas?
HELP! I've removed the screws as well and can't get the bottom off because I can't get the gray gear that the jug fits onto off. I just need to clean the buttons inside--they're sticking!HELP! I removed the motor coupling and after troubleshooting the blender found that the thermal fuse was blown. I think Radio Shack might have the fuse I need if not I know an online site that definitely does.

The seal ring probably stopped the blender from tightening to far. It is a good idea to warm the blender but you can also try tapping it with a small piece of wood or similar as you try to open it. I think it may just need a bit more force to get it open. Be aware that it could break - but you can't use it at the moment anyway!
I contacted the Focus Electric Company which has owned Back to Basics now.
They guarenteed to replace the motor if it was purchased within a year.
I sent them the receipt and they confirmed that they ll send me the same within 7-10 days.
I generally agree with Guest's suggestion - it is FAR cheaper to replace this blender than to repair it, but you can call the manufacturer at 866-290-1851 to explore your options.
