I do not have the siemens gigaset se 572 router but the wireless function could be turned off in the firmware. When you scan for wireless networks with the Netgear adaptor do you see your router? If you do not see your router the wireless function could be turned off, to turn it on use the software which came with your router to turn it on. If the software is not installed you could access it from Internet Explorer. If you do not know the IP address of the router you can find it by the next steps.
1. Select Run from the Start menu.
2. Type CMD and press Enter.
3. Type IPCONFIG /ALL and press Enter.
4. Note the IP Address on a piece of paper.
Open Internet Explorer and type the IP Address in the Internet Explorer address bar (example: 192.168.0.1). You may have to type a username and password to access the firmware settings. You should find the password listed in your manual, possibly on the bottom or back of the router. Once you are in the router firmware find the wireless settings so you can turn it on and set your Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) protection and note that value on a piece of paper. Exit internet explorer to save your settings and again try to scan for wireless networks with the Netgear adaptor. Select your router and type in the WEP key and you should be wired.
Check the type of encryption the 572 is set for, I've found a few cases where it needs to be WPA and not WEP.
As a temporary measure, you could switch off wireless security.
Lastly, check your not getting a channel conflict, if a neighbour has a wireless access point with the same channel, you may get problems, which will require logging onto the 572 and changing the wireless channel
