There is a switch located on the duct from the heating element. Which you are not able to reset, you have to replace it if it's defective. Do a continuity test on it and if there is no continuity then the switch has to be replaced.
With all doors closed, put key in ignition and turn key to first position only, and fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 5-7 times. Pedal must be pressed all the way down and fully released these 5-7 times. I hope this helps!

Yup, SR400 and 500 are the same engine in this respect. Seems most top end parts for the 500 fit the 400. . Check this link (yoshimura) for some supporting evidence. sr400 jumps straight to the SR500 at Bike Bandit also.

Unscrew the crown like you are setting the time. Make sure the time shown on the watch is not around 12 o'clock. If it is change the time to around 6 o'clock.
Then pull the crown out to the first click. Turn the crown to advance the date. When finished push the crown back in and screw it down tight.
