I have a Sony Bravia KDL-46V3000 television which turns on and works for a period, then the screen goes blank. A red LED on the front blinks two flashes, pauses, two flashes. I have to unplug the TV for a few minutes an plug it back in to get the TV to turn back on.
I thought this might be an over heating problem, so I put a box fan behind the TV softly blowing on the back, but does not appear to make a difference.
Thank you!

turm on the tv for at least 24 hours with rf signal it will automatically get ok.

Unfortunately 5 blinks is a LCD panel error. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD panel. This is the most expensive part in the TV.
part number: 1-802-488-12
List price: $1336.32
Core charge: 1790.00
You could try to replace it yourself but would need to take the whole TV apart by first taking off the back cover, then removing all the boards in order to get to the panel before putting it back together but I would just recommend buying a new TV as the price of the repair exceeds the price of a new TV of the same size.

i have the same problem, apparently the LCD panel needs to be replaced and this will cost more than the tv is worth... Advice is to not buy a sony again, because this is a common problem and they wont extend the warranty, even if its 2 weeks after it runs out...

This also happened to me and may continue to get worse... If it goes away for a while after warming up, then it is the same problem... The LCD panel is probably going out, when that happens the cost to repair it is more than the tv is worth... If it is in warranty then you can have it replaced or fixed.

You can try contacting www.shopjimmy.com
It will be more than the TV is worth, better off selling the TV for parts on EBAY, then use the money toward the new TV. LCD panels are limited production run, and it is the most expensive of the whole TV.
