Manually turn the minute hand forward until the 16 westminster chimes sound and then the hour strikes. Then remove the minute hand (it will go on in four positions) and put it back on at the 12 o'clock position. The chimes should now be back into sync.

The next time it chimes multiple times turn the hour hand clockwise until it is pointing at the number of times it gonged. Next take off the dial nut off (make sure to put it in a plastic bag because they can be hard to replace) and turn the minute hand until it chimes signaling 15 minutes after. Now put the minute hand back on pointing to 3 o'clock and replace your dial nut and you are all set.

Westminster chime mantel clock chimes 13 at 12 o'clock but chimes correctly on all other hours

Just a question: you say 13, might it be an occasional double strike? The reason I ask is I have seen that (depending on the type of chime mechanism) that the striker is slightly out of align. Or that the chime rods are too close together. Double check to see if either the striker or the chimes have been bent or the striking felt is frayed. If you have to bend anything use two pliers rather than your fingers, small adjustments... go easy.

I have a Linden mantel clock with chimes and 3 winding squares. Which square is for which function? I cannot seem to find this info anywhere!

I believe the one on the right is for the chimes, the one in the center is for the time and the one on the left is for the gong (on the hour).

I inherited a Seiko Westminster chime clock. The time is perfect but the hourly chimes are 3 hours behind. How can I synchronize the two?

The next time it gongs multiple times turn the hour hand clockwise until it is pointing at the number of times it gonged. Next take off the dial nut off (make sure to put it in a plastic bag because they can be hard to replace) and turn the minute hand until it strikes once. Now put the minute hand back on pointing to 6 o'clock and replace your dial nut and you are all set.

How do I stop the continuous hour chimes on a WESTMINSTER chime mantel clock ?

Is this a older type mantel clock or an electric. A older one has a small arm on the back of the wooden case just move it to it's opposite position and that should stop all chimes. A few times that small switch is on the inside but very rear. If it's electric it also should have a switch to turn off all chimes.

Make sure all the batteries have been replaced, that the batteries fit tight, check for loose wite connections. If that is all good, you will need to replace the chime box or the whole movement.
