Sony Wega shutting off by itself

Check your lamp. A weak lamp can cause the TV to power down. Also inspect and clean the fans to the best of your ability.

light engine is faulty. try to clean the 3 LCD flexible wire and its connector on your optic block. sometimes this connectors loosen up.

If tv shuts off and turns back On itself than lamp is weak and need to be replaced.
If tv shuts off but does not turns On itself than you will see red light blinking on tv front, let me know how many times it blinks, there would be pause of 3 seconds in blinks so count pause to pause and post here to provide you helpful info about problem.

How long have you had the set? If its been at least two years then its time for a new lamp.

The first place to start is to change the lamp.

I also have a Sony KDF-42WE655 42" Lcd television. We just changed the lamp (bulb) several weeks ago and has noticed that everytime we turn on the television it stays on about 30-40 seconds then cuts off. After about 15-20 seconds it cuts itself back on. Weird!! It must have something to do with changing the bulb!?!?

Did you clean the air filter? Sounds like a thermal problem due to a plugged air filter.

unplug the unit for a couple of minute and plug it back in...if it still wont stay on get a repairman
