Compaq Presario 1200 won't charge battery

I have a Compaq Presario 1200 that won't charge the battery. I have tried another battery with the same results. Any known problems with this or fixes.

  • manford Mar 31, 2008

    1. The image quality is too low, but the display driver is installed....if I set my resolution to 1024 x 768, I cant see the start menu and the desktop becomes too big for the screen area.

    2. The batery does not charge, but the charge light/led flashes as if it's charging. When I unplug it off the electricity mains, it doesn't even start on battery mode...it also doesn't show under windows (XP) that the battery is charging or not.

help me if you can.. my email address is [email protected].

Dear N9YK

you can follow this

If you have a loose connection where you plug in the power on your laptop, or it works intermittently, you could have a bad dc jack. Symptoms

  • Move the power plug and the laptop loses connection
  • Broken or cracked dc jack
  • Laptop won't charge but worked on battery
  • Power LED and battery LED flicker when the adapter tip is moved
  • Battery won't charge
  • Sparks come out the back of the laptop
Why does this happen?
  • Flaw in manufacturer designs
  • Use of universal or non-original ac adapter
  • Lots of plugging and unplugging of the ac adapter
  • Tripping on or pulling the ac adapter cord
or you can check your dc amper in your adaptor

oke

thx

The female plug in my Compaq Presario (for AC adapter) is broken from the motherboard. Computer still runs, since the battery is about 90% charged. Cab this battery (it has 5 female terminals) be...

i cannot think of a commercial product designed for this. I believe that you either may need to send it in for repairs, or if the pin inside the female end is bent, try bending it back. BE CAREFUL.

Laptop won't turn on, battery won't charge

I had a similar issue with the Armada M700 from Compaq. Never did figure it out exactly. But I do know this. When you unplug the power chord and take out the battery and plug the power chord back in while the battery is out usually for some reason it turned on allowing me to replace the battery which would then begin charging. Your problem interests me because I can really relate!

Compaq Presario 1200

This means that the data inside the D drive is gone. If you had deleted the D drive data or had gotten rid of this partition then your outta luck in trying to restore your system back to factory settings (getting windows reloaded).

All is not lost if you are willing to pay HP/Compaq for their restore CD's this will get your laptop and running again. I paid a copy of these CD's 3yrs ago and cost me $45CDN to get them.

Laptop shuts off when unplugged, battery is fully charged

Chosenone, Even though the battery meter shows it fully charged I doubt it?s correct. Over time rechargeable batteries loose their ability to store power. How long depends on the battery manufacturer and how well you treat it but you can consider yourself fortunate if your battery lasts three or four years. Beware of people who suggest you take apart your batter to bypass the safeties or replace old battery cells. Defective or improperly handled batteries can overheat and cause fires when you least expect them. Let us know if you have any more questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.
