Lcd Flickering Hi, I have a problem with my laptop screen, after using the laptop for 20 min, the screen start flickering and it's getting worse as i continue to work with it...it seems like it "need to rest"... After i stop using it for half an hour i can continue work like 20 more minutes...and it start to flicker again.. when i connect an external screen, i dont have this problem... i tought that my screen was damaged, but i am not sure, cause when my laptop workm (with external screen) and the screen closed (doesnt work) it shouldnt flicker (according to the situation i described), but when i open the screen for a moment..it's directly start flickering... does someone has an idea what damaged about this laptop?

Sounds like the driver board for the backlight is going bad...is there a spot on the screen part of the case ( usually at the bottom) that feels much warmer than the rest?

The first thing to do is check for part availability and price - you may not be able to get the board, or price may be more than it's worth to repair the laptop. Ebay is where I usually look first. You might be able to pick up the whole top half for a decent price, and just change that. Backlight drivers are usually 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide, and 4-6 inches long, and have all wires on 2 plugs, in and out. Screen dis-assembly is very tricky, lots of VERY small screws, so be patient and thorough so nothing more gets broken.
It's not a simple task, but not impossible, either.
Just remember CCF's are high voltage (low current), so make sure there is no power to the system, or it will sting!!

    Good Luck!!

Hi,

If it would be a video card driver problem, you could still fix it, but if would be the video card itself, then you need to replace it.

Here what you can try.

- If you have an external monitor, connect it to your laptop. Observe if you will get the same flickering screen.
- If yes, download and install an updated video card driver from Toshiba website. Make sure that it is compatible for your Operating System (Linux, XP, Vista or Windows 7) and system model.
***NOTE: If updating the video card driver will not resolve the issue, surely the video card is failing. It needs to be replaced.
- If no, the problem is with the LCD of the laptop. Consult a professional technician to help you check LCD cable, LCD inverter and LCD itself.

- If you don't have any external monitor, go to the BIOS setup (either pressing F2..(it depends on what key was designed for it)..at the manufacturer's logo). If the screen will flicker at the BIOS setup screen, consult a professional technician to help you check LCD components.

Hope this helps.

HP L1720 flickering!

this is common, the display is bad.
all displays, fail. all do. no reason to get angry,
a broken display is worth nearly zero value $0
so how much money will you spend on worthless.?
you can get a new display at Walmart for $65, ,
lines are usually very serious. and is not ever the DC-DC inverter
a bad inverter (< it's power supply) is for the back ground lamps. not data side. the data side is failing and is common, if you twist the screen
it gets worse. ? bingo. data driver connections bad , screen.
IN most cases the part that is bad (screen), costs $100 new. or 50 used
why go there/
?

Flickering Screen on Model P105 Toshiba Satellite

on the back of the LCD is a cable that goes from there to the Motherboard. Try reseating that cable on both ends. If that doesn't fix it then it has to be a problem with either the screen or the cable behind the screen.

My screen is flickering

firstly try reinstalling the video drivers, if that doesn't work either the inverter is ready to give up or the monitor connector has somehow worked loose from the socket
