Printer is offline

I installed the driver for the Canon MX850 series printer. I'm trying to connect to the printer over the network. I'm running windows 7. the printer in the "devices and printers" control panel applet shows that the printer is "offline." curiously, I'm able to scan from the MX850 over the network so I know that there is connectivity.

There is no printer server. This printer is not connected to a server. This printer is connected directly to my home network.

I did find a solution. I went to the printer control panel, found the printer, opened the printer queue, selected the "printer" menu item and cleared the check mark next to the "Use Printer Offline" menu item. Voila, the printer is now "online" and it works.

This seems like a really, really, really lame solution...why would the check mark ever be selected?

I have a canon pixma MX850. I have connected to my network. Printing works fine. When I go to scan, the printer ask to which computer. I don't understand the question, much less the solution. Ho

Many machines allow network printing but not network scanning. I think you will find that the MX850 driver and MP Navigator software simply does not support network scanning. I suggest you query Canon directly.

Canon pixma mp499 is offline how do I fix it?

Make sure that it's powered on. If it is, then it sounds like it's not on your network. Run the setup program and enter your wifi network information into it, so that it gets on your network. If you've already done that, try power cycling the printer. I have to do that with my HP wifi printer every once in a while. When it goes to sleep it drops the connection.

I have an Canon MX850 printer -- when I try to print anything using the BlueTooth connection, it says the printer is offline. How do I set it "online"? It is plugged in. It is the same as it has always...

Any recent changes like moving cabinets or furniture?It doesn't have to be anything large,a Blue Tooth connection is really short range and it doesn't take much to interrupt the signal.
Take a look around for anything that may be out of place or new.

Computer says Orinter is Offline but is connected. Has the Fax button highlighted. Only have Copy, Fax, Scan, Memory Card to select from, which one should be highlighted for printing from connected PC

In order to print from PC you should choose COPY function. To check the connection between PC and your printer perform these steps:

Right click on printer driver name (Canon PIXMA MX 850 in this case)
Choose Properties
Click on Maintenance tab
Click View Printer Status: the status should ONLINE in order to print or scan

If still Offline,please recheck USB cable,reinstal it,or compare with another cable.

Im having problems with my canon printer

I'm not exactly sure what causes this problem, but here is what I did to solve it on the Canon MX850.

Go to Canon, search for your printer model (I searched for MX850, but you would do MX700), click drivers and downloads, and download the IJ Network Driver as well as the MX700 series MP Driver.

Install the IJ Network Driver first. It will require the printer be connected via USB, even if you use a network. Then install the MP Driver.

After that I was able to scan to the computer.
