The camera takes special memory cards in an accessory slot on right side. This allows you to save bespoke settings to the card. The camera is still a film camera but was ahead of its time in having this facility. I suggest checking on eBay for cards.

Minolta dynax 500si (help)stays on

Usually this is caused by a failure of the aperture unit in the bottom. There are a bunch of gears and one has a plastic post molded onto it. The post stops the gears from turning when they have returned to the start position after firing a shot. The plastic is too soft and the post wears away, causing the gears to go too far, and jam the unit.

Obviously, due to the age and the fact that Minolta is out of the camera business the part is not longer available

I need a rechargable battery for my minolta dynax 7000i camera

The Minolta Dynax 7000i uses a 2CR5 battery. This is a disposable lithium battery. As far as I know, there is no rechargeable equivalent.

I PUT IN A NEW BATTERY AND NO POWER

Brand new battery? Because I know for instance Canon ships some of their batteries fully discharged to minimize the risk of damage during shipping... If not, remove the battery and make sure the contact points on the door and in the bottom of the battery bay don't look twisted or damaged in any way.

What year was the Minolta Maxxum 7000, serial number 16043985? Thanks, Karla

I do not know for certain. You might find that answer on the Yahoo Minolta groups.
The Maxxum 7000 was introduced to the US market in 1985. Sold as the Alpha 7000 in Japan and Dynax elsewhere, it was replaced by the 7000i in a couple years. Then the 700, the 700xi, the 700si, the 70 and the 7 was the last film based 7 series. There
They also made 8000i, 800si, etc. The 9 series was the Minolta Professional cameras and they had the toughest bodies, weatherproofing, higher shutter speeds, and more.
Later models introduced better autofocus, better exposure options, wireless flash, faster film advance, etc.

Minolta 7000 SLR

The Konica-Minolta 5d, and 7d, both discontinued but available used on ebay and other places will work with your AF lenses, as well as all the sony alpha camera bodies. KM sold their camera business to sony, and most of the whole maxuum/alpha/dynax group of engineers went with the sale to Sony. I had a 7000, and an 8000i, and all my lenses are quite happy on the 7D I picked up a few months ago on ebay.
