    I want the fuse rating *******. I'm not some computer kid who's never touched a soldering iron. Do you have access to the schematics or not? Just say I don't know.

    Oh come on. I'm not some computer kid who's never picked up a soldering gun. If you don't have access to the schematics then say so. Power line fluctuations can also caused the fuse to blow, and that's what happened. All my equipment blew fuses during a power outage in my area. Microwave, 2nd system with a 400W supply, all fixed.

    Not always true. I've changed bad votage regulators. The first thing you check is the fuse jack**s.

    Hey, Einstein...If a power supply blows a fuse it has a bad rectifier circuit, unless you shorted it out.

The fuse is located inside the ATX switch mode power supply and it is solder onto the circuit. There are dangerous voltages inside this power supply. I suggest you get a new switch mode power supply because failure of a component inside the power supply has caused the fuse to blow and replacing the fuse would most likely not fix the power supply.

    Sorry i have not got back to you earlier, I;ve been on holidays for 30 days.

    I do not have a schematic diagram, but some fuses have the voltage and amp rating stamped on the metal caps.

    A power outage could cause some other components to fail.

    A rought estimate of the fuse rating - the power supply wattage rating divided by the mains supply voltage and multiple this answer by 3 times to get the amp rating.

How to bypass power button on dell gx150

See http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx150/en/ug/about.htm#inside for a view of the internal connections for the Dell GX150 motherboard and front panel connector.
You would need to try to identify which wires on the front connector pin block are used for the power switch then use a meter to check whether the switch makes a temporary or permanent connection between those pins to know whether you could just jumper them or not.

i used to refurbish that exact model of dell, 9/10 times it was a power supply issue. Other times the motherboard would be dead.

No usage

You most likely have either a power supply problem or a motherboard problem. Several GX150's I had displayed the same problem. Look at your motherboard (mobo) and see if any of the capacitors (caps) are swollen, busted or leaking stuff out of the top. The caps look like little tiny soda can. They should be perfectly flat. Especially look at the ones that have a plus or an X on top. If you find any like that then they will need to be replaced (not a job for an amateur). If they all look good then try replacing the power supply with one that has the same or greater output watts. The output watts are printed on a sticker on the outside of the power supply.

My gf has a DELL (pc of ****) that was left unplugged for 4 months, at setting it up I get the (HDsk) or (Alt) with "no keyboard detected" or it goes into (IDE Configuration) then shuts OFF!!!! This is why...

Suggest you contact Dell Support, (Contact Us), and see about getting the Restoration Disk for it.
Also, although it may sound a little 'Out There', do not rule out that the power supply is bad. It may be that Electrolytic Capacitors are leaking paste out. Makes the power supply weak, and will only go so far in booting up.

Wont start up anymore.

(try a systemactic troubleshooting approach, best and cheapest way to fix)
  1. If plugged into a powerstrip remove and try direct to wall first.
  2. If still NG try another power cable.
  3. Check switch near powersupply in the back of the PC.
  4. Open Case and check power supply connectivity to motherboard.
  5. Replace the power supply.

DELL OPTIPLEX GX150 Upgrade to Intel Pentium 4

Upgrading to a PIII to a PIV usually requires a new motherboard. Especially with that kind of speed you want to go to. The processor uses a different socket set and requires a different motherboard to absorb twice as much heat as you are putting out of the computer right now (the faster the processor, the more heat is released). Power supply should be around 400 watts as well because you will be needing a different cooling system as well.
