Switched from DSL modem to Cable modem. Linksys

If you had your linksys router controlling the DSL connection, it was most likely a PPPoe connection requiring a username and password. Most cable companies have dynamic IP address and do not require a username or password.

Open your internet browser, IE, Firefox etc and go to 192.168.1.1 >
Enter your router username and password, typically admin and admin

In the setup tab, change your connection FROM whatever is listed there and make sure it is Autumatic DHCP Save your settings, and restart the router.

You should be fine.

Slow, or no, web page loads on Verizon DSL w/Westall 6100 modem

hi,
if your ie8 has messed with your settings try restoring your system back using system restore to a date when everything was fine, but little caution here you will loose every new settings/software installed that you did after the restore date, so restore it to a date that had those settings and software but internet was working fine
to restore your system to a back date
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.

and pick up the date and follow the instructions

Trying to turn a Linksys WRT54GS into a hub

  1. If you want to set the router to work only as a switch with wireless access point, you may need to get into its setup page and adjust some settings.
  2. Using a computer that is wired directly to one of the router's Ethernet ports, launch IE and type 192.168.1.1. It is the default IP address of the router. Then it will open a window, asking for a username and password. By default, there is no username and the password is admin.
  3. Once you're in the router's User Interface, look for a sub tab called "Advanced Routing" under the main tab SETUP. Then set router mode to "Router" instead of Gateway. In some router's, the choice there is NAT enable or disable. If it is the one showing there instead of Router mode, then set NAT to disable. Click Save settings which is located at the bottom portion of the screen.
  4. Then click on "Basic Setup" and then disable DHCP server. Save the settings then.
  5. Then your modem now will be connected to one of the 4 Ethernet ports of the router.
Hope this helps!

I dont know haow to connect Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster WRT54GS - wireless router

  1. Connect your modem to the Internet port of the router. Your computer needs to be connected to one of the 4 Ethernet ports at the back of the router.
  2. Access the router's setup page by launching Internet explorer and typing 192.168.1.1.
  3. It will ask for a username and password. Leave the username blank and password is admin.
  4. Once your in the setup page, set "Internet connection type" with what your ISP requires you to have.
  5. If you have cable ISP, usually it is "Automatic Configuration-DHCP."
  6. But if you have DSL ISP, then it will be PPPoE. You need to know your username and password from your ISP.
  7. Better yet, verify your Internet connection type from your Internet service provider.
Hope this helps!

LinksysWRT54GS V7 Wireless Router

So if I understand you, you have an ethernet cable running from your DSL modem to the Internet port on the back of the Linksys router and then an ethernet cable connecting one of your computers to one of the numbered ports on the router. Is that correct?

If the above is correct, using the computer that is hooked to the router via the cable, open Internet Explorer and type the following in the Address Bar:

http://192.168.1.1

The Username should be left blank and the default password is "admin" with no quotes.

See what happens when you try this and let me know. This may take a few steps to get going.

WRT54GS DEVICE-NO INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

You didn't specify if you're using DSL or cable internet.

With DSL, keep in mind the software1.gif on the PC is what "dials out" to the ISP with your name / password, and you MUST set the name and password in the router. Otherwise, ONLY the computer that has the software installed (verizon, etc) will be able to connect.

Also, make sure that ONLY the LAN is connected from the router to the modem, and not both the USB and LAN.

If you're using a cable connection, you don't have to do this, however, most newer Linksys routers come with a 'setup' disk, which MUST be used regardless of connection type.
