I had the same problem with my easy vac as well after owning for almost 2 years. I cleaned ALL the filters, the brush, the hose, even changed the belt...nothing worked. Then i took a flashlight and looked along the side where the belt i located. I am betting u will notice the same issue i found...the belt wore away a small hole/indentation in the side. If you take a little masking tape and cover the hole, the loud noise stops and your suction is returned. The tape has held up a few months for me so far. I wish this site let me post pics so you can see how to do it.

Did you check the brush roll, may have a problem with it. But you could have a problem with a motor bearing going bad, they getting loud, also if there is a problem with the motor fan, that may be the cause of it being loud. Bissell 3510 either is obsolete or is thw rong number, it doesn't come up at the Bissell site.

When switch to carpet, the difference is that the brush roller turns. When it is on hard floors setting it doesn't. Remove the base plate, remove the brush and the belt. There is likely something wrapped around the drive spindle or clutch.

How do you change a belt on the Bissell 5770

you can get a free manual at manualsonline.com
I just looked up your vac on page 5 of their list of manuals. Or you can open up your vac and see how the belt is on there and then you will see how to do it --- or you can take it to a vac repair shop and get them to replace it for about $12-15.

Hope it helps.

My vac is really loud now is that the belt??

Sounds like the brush roller is worn and making noise, take the complete vac to the repair shop for service. I've seen this cause damage to the front nozzle housing as well.

Hi,
According to Bissel, they should be standard phillips screws. Nowever - things change.
This is a general guide from Bissel for belt change -
BELT CHANGE _ CLICK HERE

Check your model number on that site for exact details.

If the screws are Torx (star) or other security screws, tool bits are available from Screwfix -
SECURITY SCREW BITS
That fit standard loose-bit screwdrivers.

Hope that solves your problem.
Thank you.

Bissell power force

turn vac over, take of the access plate covering the brush roll, may be 2 to 4 screw. Then you can get to the brush roll and belt. It uses a Bissell Style 7 belt.
