HI. The door locking mechanism will be the culprit, here. In order to confirm the damage, you will need to gain access to the actual mechanism. Once you have exposed the locking mechanism, pay close attention to the actual circuit section of the mechanism. The contacts will be used for the testing procedure. You will need to inspect the wiring at the locking mechanism. make sure that it is connected to the main PCB, properly. One of the most common causes for this particular issue will be connection failure, due to a slight separation at the contacts. This separation can occur overtime. at the control board, or locking mechanism. Once the connection is severed, the locking mechanism will stall. The connections at the control and locking mechanism should be tight, with no corrosion, as well. Check the insulation around the wires for faults. If the connection to and from the control is optimal, this will lead to the actual door locking mechanism. Use the procedure below to test the circuit functionality.

DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM TEST:

Before repairs or further testing can begin you must disconnect the electricity at the fuse panel, at the circuit breaker panel, or by pulling the plug. Make sure the power is off before proceeding. Set the latch to the "clean" position and test for circuit continuity at the terminals of the switch with your VOM's ohmmeter function. If there is no continuity, the switch is faulty. Use caution when testing.

Frigidaire Gas Self Cleaning Oven door open in lock position

Hello ericndiana6b - Was the unit in self-clean mode? Try pressing and holding the "Clear/Off" button to stop any operation of the EOC. Do this at the same time while pushing and hold the light switch to the left of the door lock. Usually this will trick the oven into unlocking the door. If it is ineffective, try resetting the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and redo the steps. If door continues to maintain locked while open, the unit may possibly have a faulty door latch or a communication problem with the EOC. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

Oven door won't unlock

I had the same problem on my Kenmore Electric Range. Door would not unlock. Tried pressing "Off" for multiple seconds, but still would not unlock. No error codes. Clock was displaying normally. Finally decided to try running it thru the self cleaning operation to get it to cycle thru locking and unlocking the door. When I started self clean, the door automatically went thru the auto lock and "locked" appeared in the display. I then hit "Off" to clear it and stop the cleaning cycle. The door then unlocked as normal!

Kenmore elite 790.3670 oven door locked

I held down the clear button for three seconds, it unlocked but still showed the lock button lit. It began beeping over and over. I opened the door and pressed the clear button again for three seconds. It stopped and the oven works just fine now. In fact, I used it right after I got it cleared out.

Frigidaire---oven door locks.

On my Frigidaire electric range with flat screen front controls, when the "Clean" control was accidentally pushed and the door locked, I could not unlock the door by cutting power, by running the clean mode for 30 seconds then pushing "Clear", or by hitting any button. What opened the door was holding down the "Clear" button for 30 seconds until the range started beeping and code "F11" read on the led. This worked. Good luck with yours.
