I have a presario c700. after installing windows 7, the web cam is not detectable. Why is that?

Because most of the companies have not yet released the drivers for win7. Anyways here is a driver with compatibility mode with your existing web cam possibly a bit efficiency of cam may decrease. Update the driver when its officially released.

The chances are that your webcam is NOT supported by Windows 7. Try going to the webams manufacturers website to see if they have a windows 7 driver.. look under the support portal.. If not, maybe a generic windows 7 driver may work.otherwise, you will have to purchase a windows 7 supported webcam..

Was the computer connected to the Internet with a LAN cable when you installed Windows 7. During the Windows 7 installation Windows will automatically find and download the drivers.
The HP/Compaq WEB site may have a WEBcam driver for your model laptop.
If all else fails then try installing Windows 7 again and make sure the laptop is connected to the Internet before you start the installation.

Hi.
actually for presario c700, web cam driver is auto install in windows XP, Vista or 7.
you only need install web cam software to take picture from your web cam
on presario c700 webcam, Youcam software is need to make this action. but if u only use your cam for online. skype or ym is sufficient for it to function

Ok, there are NONE, for Win 7. You may be able to get it to work like this, go to device manager, locate the Unknown Web cam.. and search for the driver online...it may find it otherwise...

After changing of windows the web cam not worked
You can go to the HP.com website - put in your models product number or let the software and drivers area detect them through the detection system located on the hp website. Then select your operating system if the driver is there for webcam download it and install it. I'm assuming your gone from vista back to Xp for the C700 only came in vista support.

your webcam is external or built-in in your laptop? just plug your webcam and it will automatically detect by wyour windows and will be ask a driver for installation of your webcam....if you have a cd driver of your cam insert it to cd-drive and follow the instructions on your screen...

Sicne no specific model was mentioned, here is the generic webcam driver used for Compaq Presario C791TU Notebook PC. Most laptop models in this series with webcam use YouCam so it should work.

Install xp in compaq presario c700
The hard disk may be set to Enhanced AHCI SATA mode. Look for Legacy or IDE mode setting in BIOS menu options.
XP SP2 does not recognise Enhanced SATA mode hard disks.

You may be able to use NLite to make a CD which has correct SATA drivers.
