ENGLAND, UK. DOMESTIC HOUSE CENTRAL HEATING; i recently fitted a thermestate valve on one of my radiators, (, we decided tothe only one that didn't have one) but it was so hot! Since I have turned it all back i seemed to have air in the system, it made a loud whirling sound in the boiler. We have an old back-boiler system (behind the fireplace.) I have bled the radiators many times now.We have a tank in the loft which feeds the system and a hot water tank in the airing cupboard in the bedroom. Once the heating has been on for a few hours all of a suddon some of the pipes make a VERY loud knocking/vibrating sound which goes once we turn a radiator up.
Is it a case of us having to continuosly take any trapped air out? Or should we have not put the thermastate valve on in the first place? The make is Baxi Bermuda
Hi, I have had a new radiator fitted in my spare room, it is hot at the top and cool at the bottom and my bedroom radiator has hot and cold parts in it. This has now caused one of my central heating pipe sealants to break open and water has gone everywhere. Could this been avoided. Harassed lady! Thanks
Try bleeding the radiators in the order of downstairs first and then the upstairs and try to bleed them in the order they fill, trapped air can take a while to escape, a good sign on a radiator is the bottoms being warm where the tops( where the air is trapped) stays cooler, a sure sign to which radiator needs bleedin, hope this helps, colin
