Ceiling fan and lights with remote control

Have two units in same room,they have been working perfect for 3 years,turned off by wall switch at night.Next day turned wall switch on used remote to turn on both fixtures,used remote to turn on fans one came on one didn't ,used remote to raise brightness on lights and turn on fans speed.Both units were installed at the same time,. get no responce from 2nd unit.Remote not working at all on 2nd unit

Hi, I have eight units of kok type k14x5 remote control fans which were fixed some 5 years ago. Out of the eight, I have problem
With the motor within a short period off three years. So far I have changed about four units of the motor and another one unit is also due to change cause the speed is at its lowest and I cannot change the speed.
Please Advise.

Hardwired ceiling fan turned off by itself and stopped responding to remote control, but the light turns on/off.

I've had problems with Minka Aire also. You might need a new receiver. Call Minka @ 1-800-307-3267 and talk to someone in tech dept.. Should be a one year warranty on the receiver.

Can't turn off fan when light is on

Not sure, but if its a new installation, I would say that the wiring has been done incorrectly. Ceiling fans with lights should be able to work independently. both on / off or 1 on, the other off.

Problem with hunter ceiling fan 23272

The problem is with the remote receiver attached to the fan body. It is a small device that acts as a remote switch and this is cradled in a pocket inside the ceiling fan itself. If you are handy, you can replace this device yourself. I believe you need to purchase a new kit from Lowes that comes with a matched transmitter and receiver for fan control. Go to Lowes Lighting section for this product.

The remote controls the fan speed but wont dim or control the light. the unit wont work if the light switch is off so I cant use the fan at all unless the light is turned on

mcdevito75 here, Generally the Ceiling fan motor is hooked up by-passing the wall switch but still to the hot laed going to the wall switch whlie the lights are hooked up to the hot lead after the wall switch, So without the remote, Manually operate your fan and lights. First with the wall switch off the fan should work and the lights no work. Now turn the fan off with the pull chain on the fan shroud close to the ceiling. Now turn wall switch on and lights should work with wall switch and the fan should also work. if so, re-program the remote or change the batteries or even re--place the remote.

I have 21 ceiling fans in my house.

Three suggestions (maybe not viable solutions):
1. Consider creating ceiling fan "groups". A group is a set of fans that is controlled by one remote.
Group: All (or some) in all vaulted ceilings.
Group: All hallways
Group: Outdoor celing fans
2.
Power OFF ceiling fans at the wall switch that are not used often. Those can have duplicate codes.
3.
If the remote controls are iR (infrared) rather than RF (Radio frequency), then the ceiling fans that are farthest apart or have more solid walls in between, can have the same codes and not be affected by the "wrong" remote.

Fan with remote won't work with wall switch. I

I just recently purchased a hunter ceiling fan w/light and remote. Had it installed and wall switch would not work, only remote. I contacted Hunter company directly about this problem and I was told that they redesigned their fans with remotes so that only the remote works for turning off power to fan. The person who made that made that BRILLIANT change should be fired. So to those of you who own a newer hunter an product with a remote ne your wall switch will not work tat s te reason why.

Fan with light (no remote) with wall switch not a 3-way

Unless you want to use pull chains, you will either have to get a different fan with a remote, or you can buy a remote to ADD to an existing fan/light. It hooks up under the base of the lamp. They seem to work better than the factory fans with the built in remotes.

Wall switch

I had this same problem (sort of) - my daughter lost the remote to our fan and it would not work from the wall switch. What you have to do is go up to where your fan is connected to the ceiling, slide the canopy down, and remove the remote transmitter. Then just rewire the fan normally - white to white, black and blue to black, and the ground wires together. Turn on the power and your fan light should work with the wall switch. You will have to pull the cord for the fan to work.
