Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206. To get more details, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Two
blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then
displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the
circuits. Check this link to get more details about Sony Blinking codes.
the number of red light flashes indicate where the fault lies...sony error codes are easy enough to find if you google the model with the number of flashes.hope this helps somewhat as you dont say how many blinks!!
regards,steve.
ps.line output transformer failure rates are quite high on these sets, usually resulting in two red blinks-pause-two red blinks-pause etc...
Seven blinks, pause, seven blinks, etc. means "Horizontal deflection stopped" and indicates a serious problem, probably on the D or DZ board (whichever is applicable).
If this is the case, the TV will have to be serviced by a professional.
Please count light flashing again. Light flash time is "0.3 Sec" and there would be pause (light Off time) for "3 Sec". Start counting after pause to next pause.
Only 3 things bad Flyback transfomer, bad picture tube ,shorted hori output transistor. more then likely you have a bad picture tube, ive already throwed over 20 sets out due to bad tubes.
TWO Blinks---B+ over current protection (OCP) , unit goes to the standby, this means there is a component inside your TV set, in the main power supply or the sweep power supply that is not letting the TV set's power supply regulate properly. I'm sorry to say, there is no quick fix for this and is going to need to be diagnoised by a trained tech. Good Luck
