My canon A520 lens cover don't open

You can disassemble them, clean them and then replace them or just remove them completely. A complete kit of all the parts (including the double sided tape you are going to need if you take it apart) can be purchased for about $20. You can also have it fixed for you for about $45 total.

did you get it serviced lately

I had this problem once. The lens was stuck open and the power would not go on. I took out the storage card and the lens retracted.

I have two Canon Power shots---the A610, and the A630. The lens cover is starting to hang on my 630 when the lens retracts.

If the lens is extended, take your fingertip and try to move the cover a bit to see if it springs open. If not, then the mechanism within the lens needs to be replaced.

Canon makes a great camera, and I would tell you to try to have it fixed if it costs less than 75 dollars. At 75-100 dollars it's a toss-up. More than a 100 dollars---it's your call.

my camera is doing the same thing but i dropped it once and ever since it won't open anymore... it's definetely broken right? this sucks

This is a common problem for the A520 (it happens on mine sometimes). Recommend trying only the simple fixes listed on the following web page, but do not recommend opening the front cover which is also listed here. The A520 is a little tricky getting back together.

Due to impact damage your camera has suffered an obvious lens error and possible even sensor damage. It will have to be sent into the Facttory Service Center for a repair.

Call Canon Tech Support at 1-800-828-8080 to set the service up. They are open from 8 AM til Midnight, EST; M-F.

brother the camera gear system has got problems it seems. it happens due to misplacement of gears inside it.
even tough u can do it manually dont take risk of doing it manually untill u have full knowledge of internal parts. am from chenai. here in our service centre it costs around 1800 rupees for servicing it. so better take it to service centre.

This is a fault that Canon should know about- it may mean a replacement camera- therefore Canon Technical Support should be consulted.
