Most of this shelf stereo is controlled by the credit card like remote. They are very hard to find. This is what I need the remote. I tried 1-800 remotes and what they sent me (x2) did not work with my unit. Good luck on your hunt.

I obtained a pair of Yamaha YST MS50 speakers with no subwoofer. Can they be adapted to use a different sub, such as the inexpensive Yamaha YST MSW5? The clear problem is in different cabling.

How do i make this woofer work with my polroid tv

OK, it looks from what I can tell you need a 1/4" stereo plug for the input to your speaker system. The output from the TV is either RCA jacks or maybe a 1/8" sub mini stereo jack. You can likely go to Radio Shack or an audio store and purchase a cable that has the 1/4" stereo plug on one end and a 1/8" sub mini stereo plug on the other. That cable would mute the TV internal speaker or if you do not want to mute the TV speakers you can get a cable with the 1/4" stereo plug on one end and the L and R audio, RCA (phono) plugs on the other. That would give you both. RCA plug and 1/4" plugs are pretty easy to install if can not find the correct cables. Good Luck. The Yamaha unit looks to be self powered so impedance matching or load on the TV audio amps should not be a problem.

Yamaha YST-MS50 speakers to my i Mac.

You can connect the Yamaha YST MS50 speakers to any audio source that relies on a 3.5mm jack. The YST MS50 should have two audio inputs, so you can use one of them to connect the speakers to your computer. If you don't have a 3.5mm male to male cable, then you can buy that at any electronics store or online.
