I have a Toshiba A105-S1013, and it runs on Windows XP. When I turn on the power with both the plug, or a charged battery, the screen with "Toshiba" pops up. The little blue loading bar keeps freezing about 4/5 of the way, and the laptop freezes. It will not start no matter what (I am using my brother's computer to type this). The only thing I can think of is yesterday, a few hours before this started to happen, I slammed on the keyboard a couple of times. It happened after I shut the computer, and when I opened it, this started. I am a total dunce with computers, so please help! A soulution that doesn't require money would be ideal. Thanks a ton!
my computer freeze up. although i already re-format the computer the same problem happened again. Does it has anything to do with the RAM? My laptop model spec as per below: Acer Travelmate 2315NLCi window xp 80Gigs HD 256 MB of RAM
Slamming the keyboard would jar the memory on the bottom or under the keyboard, and make this happen, inspect them both, and then restart it.. check your computers warranty here 4 FREE

During the boot process tap thef8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer or
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaultsor load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart hope this helps
When the system boots up, click on the start button, then click on run and type msconfig and hit enter. Go to the Boot tab, look at the lower box and uncheck "safe boot" if it is checked.
There's not much you can do. The problem is definately with your motherboard. I'd recommend a bios update, but normally you can ONLY run a bios update if the battery and the ac are both plugged in.
This problem is pretty common among Toshiba's A105 and P105 models.
Besides replacing the motherboard there's not much you can do.
I would first attempt to reinstall the software from the install cd. Your Toshiba support page is recomending a new BIOS upgrade. See below:

Try taking out the battery pack and using power supply only. If it boots, turn off laptop and try with battery again. If works, great, if not your battery my be faulty and you'll need a new one.
Okay, lets troubleshoot this:
1)Does your laptop run on battery alone ?
yes )test your jacks continuity to the motherboard using a continuity tester or Digital Multimeter.
a)test between the center contact and the motherboard.
b)test between the outside metal cover of the jack ,and the motherboard.
c)If either of these fails continuity, replace the jack.
2)does your laptop now power up on AC ?
yes)Stop
No)Try the BIOS upgrade.
Try firstly, on start up keep pressing F8 until a menu comes up.
Look for the line that reads 'Start windows with last known good configuration', move cursor to it with the up or down keys as your mouse won't work; and press enter.
Hopefully your pwill restart and run as normal.
If not you may need your Windows cd.
