When ovens self clean, the temp rises past the highest temp you can set it at. It is burning everything off, to clean the oven remember. Yes, it is safe to leave. The ovens have a safety, which will shut the oven off if the temp gets too high.

Self cleaning oven

Pheo,
Turn Breaker/Fuse for the stove, your electrical panel, “OFF” and then “ON”, wait 20 - 30 seconds and the door should unlock.
It may be that the temp sensor is going out and you'll need to have that looked at soon.

How do I use the self cleaning option for my oven?

First remove the rack, because the extreme heat will tarnish the racks and the shinny coating will will no longer be there, press the cleaning button, and leave it this cycle will take approx.. 3-1/2 to 4- hours to clean and cool down will take another hour, it will tell you that it is cooling and also the the cleaning is complete. so let the cycle complete and all you will need to do is wipe off some residue once it is complete.

Magic Chef refridgerator with small built in freezer model#MCBR 980W. Defrosting instructions unclear; red button suppose to be pushed in for defrosting the small freezer, How is it suppose to actually...

I just defrosted my cooler and looked at the manual. It says that you should do it when the ice is only a 1/4 inch thick. Then it will do it without any effort. Well of course i waited till it was about 1 1/2 inches thick. The defrost button does help though. i pushed it and waited 3 hours and that loosened up the ice around the box. Then used an ice pick, flat head skrew driver, and a painters 5 in 1 tool. I cleaned the inside of the freezer fairly eaisly and let the rest of the defrost process clean the top and the sides of the box which i couldn't reach.

I need direction on how to start the clean cycle on my jenn air

CLEAN PAD
Use to set a self-clean cycle or a delayed
self-clean cycle. One press of the Clean
pad sets up an immediate clean cycle. A
second press of the Clean pad sets up a
delayed clean cycle.
• Clean oven
frame, door
frame (area
outside of gasket)
and
around the
opening in the door gasket with a nonabrasive
cleaner such as Bon Ami*. These
areas are not exposed to cleaning temperatures.
• Remove air grille.
• Remove oven racks. If racks are left in
during a clean cycle, it may impair function
and they will discolor. Turn off the
oven light and close door.
* Brand names for cleaning products are
registered trademarks of the respective
manufacturers.
TO SET FOR IMMEDIATE START:
1. Press Clean pad once.
2. Press the Auto Set pad for 3 hours of
cleaning time, press again for 4 hours
and again if 2 hours of clean time are
desired.
3. CLEANING and LOC plus the clean
time will appear in the display.
4. When the clean cycle is complete,
CLEANED will be displayed. LOC will
remain on until the oven has cooled
(approx. 1 hour).
5. When the oven is cool, LOC will no
longer be displayed and the door may be
opened.
6. Wipe out the oven interior with a damp
cloth. If soil remains it indicates the
cycle was not long enough.

TO CANCEL SELF-CLEAN:
1. Press Cancel pad.
2. If LOC is NOT displayed, open oven
door. If LOC is displayed, allow oven to
cool.

How much time to leave on self cleaning...clock does no work

Depending on the condition of the oven, it could take up to 4 hours.

I ran the auto self clean on my oven last week for the first time and it set automatically for 3 1/2 hours. (It stunk, but it worked.)

A couple things to remember is: (1) Make sure you do not turn the light on inside the oven. The clean cycle should disable it. (2) Lock the door if it does not lock itself. (3) Do not open the door during the clean cycle.

Remember the self cleaning temperature is extremely high. Do not allow children in the area while doing it.

SELF CLEANING MAGIC CHEF OVEN BOUGHT 24 YRS AGO

That's fairly typical but I would suggest removing the shelves and cleaning those with oven cleaner if they need it at all. Expect the door to remain locked for additional hours for safety.
The temperature rises to > 900 degrees F and is necessary to start the catalytic process that consumes the crud.
Sorry I didn't see your message earlier-
