The red light on the front is part of the system control (computer) in your television it indicates likely your power supply and computer are functioning. There are a multitude of problems that can cause no picture and no sound. Power supply troubles are most likely. The system control will have it's own little power supply which is always on so it can listen to the front panel or your remote. It will continue to operate when the heavy duty power supply might not. This suggests a shop repair would be in order. House calls can't fix something like this unless they are VERY lucky and find something obvious. You will still pay for the house call even if they can't fix it.

unplug it from the wall, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in. i had the same problem and this simple solution worked for me. Good Luck!!!!
