the red light on mouse doesn't come on. how do you access the battery?

  • Anonymous Dec 21, 2008

Receiver light goes on upon the startup, then goes out. Computer shows it's working. In this case I'm smarter than a computer because I know it doesn't work.

My Wireless mouse is not responding as expected. It's not actually freezing, but it is taking multiple clicks to get it to work. ie, multiple clicks on a desktop icon to open a program, multiple clicks on an email to open, etc.

I have the same problem with the 1023 MS wireless mouse. I called MS and they said that for a charge of $120 (the price of 1 yr service for my computer) they can fix the problem. I think it's cheaper to buy another (but different mfg) mouse. My computer operates quite well and don't believe I need this service.
Thanx...CPT

I have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse Model 1023 that won't turn on
I changed the battery of my mouse for a new one but the red light does not turn on and when I try to synchronize it with the receiver nothing happens. In some materials it says that I have to turn on the mouse but I can't find the switch anywhere. Could someone guide me on where the mouse turns on?

The battery is bad, the switch is underneath. I use the same mouse.

Also reboot the computer.

Red light always on

The red light will go off when you unplug the receiver from the USB and place it back at the bottom of the mouse, otherwise when you turn off computer, put a piece of adhesive tape to hold down the small button that protrudes where the receiver is placed in the mouse. Good luck!!! Chawah.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Model 1023

windows should come with drivers for it, but microsoft.com has a full suite of intellipoint drivers available for all its mice which adds functionality windows drivers don't give it. If it is not working at all the problem is most likely not driver related.

try using an eraser on the contacts if you can reach them. Sounds like dirt/corrosion build-up.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse Not Connecting

After reading on Microsoft about replacing the batteries, down loading drivers and "press the button on the receiver and the connect button the receiver" - I got frustrated and almost gave it flight. Then my wife stepped in and realized that there was a green reset button on the USB connector as well. (who knew?) SO.... you press the green light (which is a button) and release it.... should blink. Then go to THE MOUSE portion and press the connect button for 5 seconds or so.... and wala...... One mouse that plays again! This ones gonna cost me! :) I hope this one works for ya!
