I have a 20 inch Toshiba tube tv that is about 13 years old. Lately, the tv has been making loud popping noises with white lines in the picture. Is this a cable box problem or the actual tv? Thanks!

If sparking inside the neck of the tube, there are chances of picture tube fault.

( More than 30,000Volts DC in micro ampere)

If sparking is observed near the EHT red cable black cup, switch off TV. Remove cable Wait for few hours.

Remove the suction cup, and the clipped "U shaped lock type pin by pushing side ways and tilting.

Clean the connecting area with clean cloth bit, moisted in ISOPROPYLE Alchohol thoroughly on that small area.

Repeat if needed. After drying reconnect & see to it that rubber cap hugs the picture tube tightly. This is a vaccum type rubber cap cup. This area shoud be air-tight.

Be cautious while trying at this picture tube connection. remove all wire connections and attempt.

If problem repeats,
Refer to a schematic diagarm for spark arresting components. Generally mounted on the picture tube pin base PCB on the neck.

Switch on TV. No sparks observed in this place, picture should be visible clean.

Heard a loud pop noise on Toshiba TP48D90 tv.Now no sound

Its not worth it. the parts cost alone will exceed the value of the Tv. you can buy a new 50" TV for $500 or less. Time to put it out to pasture.

No picture, siren type noise as restarting

My Toshiba dlp 62hm116 was used for 3 months then stored for 2 years, I turned it on yesterday and it makes a loud grinding noise which I think is probably from the exhaust fan area and the picture is black except white at both vertical sides. It worked fine the last time I used it 2 years ago. Any ideas?

I have a 13 year old 32 inch RCA tv that has whitel verticale lines running thru it and a faded picture. can this be fixed?

Yes, a repair shop may be able to repair this. Now the other question would be do you want to pay a shop or replace the unit. Money wise, you would more than likely be better off with a new set. DO NOT TRY TO FIX YOUR SELF. the tube can hold 10-15K volts and kill. As for buy or replace. if you fix now may work for the longest time. Or could have another failure in a week. never know.

Did my tv just blow up?

Yes, I think you have lost the bulb and maybe the color wheel is on the way out too. But try a bulb first. If the old one has a broken "glass tube" in the center--be assured it is bad.

Loud buzzing noise which became a very loud screech over the last week. Turning tv off and on seemed to remedy it. Today screen was only black and white, now no video only audio. Is this the picture...

This TV uses a lamp and color wheel. the color wheel is likely the problem since it is known to make noise over time and will eventually sieze. The repair is in the $400 range.

Loud popping on jvc av56wp74

if the noise is from inside the tv in the back, the high voltage transformer that feeds the anode for the rgb tubes,28000volts probably is arcing.

Green screen and distorted picture sound is good but no picture

It must be connected with the color circuit of your tv, a board connected to back end of the tube. Could be dust, cob web or carbon deposit shorting a transistor. Popping noise if loud enough can be attributed to high voltage circuit fault and picture tube.

Have it service by a qualified person.

Vertical line on my 46" toshiba lcd tv

The only logical solution for the problems people are having for the toshiba regza's tv's is to get into a class action law suite..., they contiue to sell tv's with defective parts and refuse to help the customer that spent large cash to find out they last if your lucky 2.5 years, they are junk and anyone with one will soon find out./.......
