How do I program a Netgear38 router to switch off at a certain time each night

Do not fully understand your question.
On reading the instruction manual you can schedule the firewall to block traffic at certain times in section 5-15 of http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/dg834_g_b_manual_v2.pdf
This may be what you are looking at doing . ????

Hello. I bought a Netgear DGN 2200 to replace my old router and DSL modem. I bought it in the US and I live in Colombia. I haven't been able to install it. I have try everything. My doubt is maybe that...

The unit should work as a router, but the modem typically has to come from your internet service provider (ISP). The modem needs to communicate with their equipment....

Not Sure, but...

ha, this is a funny thing, this "port forwarding" that these programs require. (typically only for updates and patches.) I can tell you exatly what your problem is.......your router. you see, the dgn2200 has a built in firewall that trumps all the software on your computer, period. The fact that it is embedded in the router requires you to log into the router using its ip address in your normal web browser. I can't remember the ip adress off the top of my head, but it should be something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254 You probably recognize the last one if you accessed your 2wire this way. (if you need the book, i hope you didnt throw it away either)

You need to make yourself familiar with all the aspects of this router, as it will, by nature, affect your connections and other activity in the future.

So, select firewall settings and you are looking for something called the "DMZ host" it may be under the port forwarding sub-menu, but like i said before, I'm am an expert at the art, but don't know every system in and out. DMZ will put your computer on the front side of the firewall and allow you to do anything you want will maintaining the firewall on the remaining network.

JUMP BACK BEHIND THE FIREWALL WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED PATHCING, you dont want to get caught by a hacker hanging out outside your firewall.

GOOD LUCK AND PLS RATE THIS POST!!!!!
