My ps3 as an disk reading error, eny idea on how to fix it?
Did Anybody try to clean the PS3 lens... if that didn't work, how about replacing the Blue ray laser
Can you be any more specific? is this a problem with one disk, one type of disk or all disks? What is the exact error you are getting? Are you trying to play a game, play a film, play an audio CD or are you using your PS3 as a Linux computer and trying to open a data disk? have you tried more than one disk? Without specifics there's just no way to guess what the problem is.
Assuming "never reads the games" was posted by swabtheblin and that you are talking about PS3 game disks not PS2 disks;Â
Try restoring the default settings buy going to the Home menu, then go to Settings -> System Settings -> Restore Default Settings.
If this is no help you may need to restore the system ***warning this will wipe all data from the hard-drive so back up any save games and personal data*** to do this go to the Home menu, then go to Settings -> System Settings -> Restore PS3 System.
If this is no help message back with the following information; If you try a music CD and/or a movie will it read it or do you get the same error? Also do the game disks you are having problems with have blue on there under surface? Some PS3's have an issue reading blue disks. Did it stop reading disks after you tried to play Assassin's Creed by any chance? This and some other games are known to 'brick' some versions of the PS3. Lastly what is the exact error you are getting on screen?
Alternatively if your PS3 is still under warranty contact Sony to arrange repair.

I put a new disk drive in because my old one was broken, i put a game in, the little circle in the right hand corner shows that it is loading, but the game dose not show up, i heard that if you start a demo then click ps button the game will show up, but my ps3 wont let me play demos every since i put the new disk drive in

My 60 g ps3 will not read a blue ray disc either. I thought the system was over heating, so I went bought external fans, didn't help. I went as far as restoring the system to the default settings, didn't work either.

This problem just started happening to me so this is as detailed as it gets, already sent this to sony: I've had my 60GB PS3 for a year and 2 months now, The system has developed a problem in reading Blue-Ray Discs which seems to go in stages:
Game Freezes - Can't access XMB for 10 Mins, when use XMB to quit all Icons remain on the loading sign for 2 minutes
Black Screen when Game is activated - Stays black until disc is ejected and system is restarted, system doesn't turn off unless disc is ejected and goes straight to red rather than the normal flashing before red
Game stays on loading screen - The game remains on its first loading screen, It doesn't appear to have frozen but HDD indicator is not flashing at all while when working normally it does flash, remains on this screen until disc is ejected, Disc takes long time to eject, once ejected system quits and returns to XMB
Disc is no longer recognized - Blue Light Constant On, Loading Circle Top-Right until disc is ejected, No Disc Option on Menu, Remains like this until disc is ejected and system is turned off then back switch is turned off for 10 seconds
Returns to Black Screen stage
Then back to Disc is not recognised
The final stage remains until I turn the system off and leave it for about 3 Hours and then it works again for about 10 minutes before the same thing happens, I've got the latest software update and it effects all Blue-ray discs (I've only got Games) other discs such as DVDs and PS2 Titles work as normal. It usually stands vertically so I turned it horizontal but that hasn't had any effect. I carried out the "Restore PS3 System" in Full but that hasn't had any effect either. Any help would be very much appreciated though I fear its a hardware problem, if so could you tell me approximately how much would it cost to have fixed?

hello am jean an i have this recent problem with my ps3 i was playing an i stoped an turned it off normally now when i go play again in like about 2 hours i turn it on an all an it gets green but then yellowwish an then goes straight to flashing red now the screen doesnt change at all stays on blak but i doesnt play or even eject the game i really need help
