I am trying to fix a dripping faucett of a 1970's American Standard bathroom faucet. It is an odd model, with the controls at the end of the faucet outlet; where you pull out a plunger/valve to turn the water on, and turn said plunger/valve either left or right to adjust the temperature of the water. I am having trouble figuring out how to disassemble the faucet to replace the seats. Any help, suggestions, etc. you could offer would be much appreciated. Thank you! P.S There are no model #'s on the faucett.

delta also uses red and blue,, but its fine, remove the insert and take it to any home improvement store, they will be able to match up the sleeve, if its just a slight drip, you can just replace the bottom washer and faucett seat,, if its a single handle you may have to get the kit that includes the O rings to rebuild it,, be sure and get some plumbers grease when putting it back in,, especially lube the O rings as they usually give out first
http://www.hometips.com/diy-how-to/bathroom-faucet-installation.html These pictures are not very good and there are videos because it's kind of hard to explain but, I'll try. The drain stop rod that goes through the fixture and would hang in your vanity should have a piece that bolts to it with holes in it. you need to pick the hole to go over the shaft taht sticks out of the drain pipe, That controls the stopper, taht will close the stopper when pulled up and, will open stopper enough to let water drain. You use the "v" shaped piece with the 2 holes in it to attach the two together. You have to position the v piece over both sides of the plunger piece and then squeeze and put the whole thing over the shaft of the pluger actuator. If you type, "how to install a faucett" in your search window, you can pick a video on how to install a "bathroom faucett" that will give you pictures. It's really hard to try to explain.
I don't know what model it is, all you need is the brand, they are all the same on the inside. Shut off the water, take the handle off, pull the cartridge out and take it to the hardware store and match it up. A fairly simple job. Hope this helps.
Hello. These faucets use a replaceable cartridge valve and when they drip they're ready for replacement. Remove the handle by loosening a small screw ,usually with an allen wrench, and maybe another nut under it.The cartridge should pull out but mat be stubborn. Take the valve with you when you go shopping there are many variations.
