Date on pics

I have a Canon Power Shot # 2228820615. I want to set it show when I have my pictures developed, the date will appear on the photo. I follow the directions in my manual but the date still does not appear. Can you provide me step by step instructions?

I went to a camera store and it turns out this particular model is unable to print the dates on the pics. The only way you can do this is if you purchase your own pic printer and hook the camera directly.

How do i get the date off the picture

You need a exif viewer, to see what date you shot the picture. Some cameras allow you to put the date visual in the photo but it must be setup before you shoot. And for these pictures you can't remove the date when you don't need it.
get the program here and load your picture in this program:
EXIF Viewer

How do i set the time on the pic after the shot to display on the pic when downloaded

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Is there a setting to display a date stamp on the pictures?

The date is held in the EXIF data in the photo file, you can view that on your PC. Some shop photo kiosks let you print this on the photo. As far as I am aware there is no setting in the camera to get the date to print on the photo like 35mm cameras often did.

How do I get the date and time to show up on either printed pictures or on my downloads onto my home computer? I have set the date and time but it doesn't show up on anything, even my cameras own screen.

The date and time plus a lot more information is stored with each picture as "metadata". It can be retrieved in most photo editing programs. After downloading to your computer, if you just right-click on a picture file, the date and time will appear.

Putting a date on the pics i take with a canon powershot

Hi Steve, thanks for coming to FixYa.

First, for your model of camera, you do know that you can only Print the date and time the pic was taken on the photo right? It does not embed the date and time data into the image, like some cameras do.
Here is a direct quote from the manual if you want to check my information. You will find it on page 21. "Setting the date and time settings does not cause the date/time stamp to appear on the images."

This may/maynot be what you wanted, either way let me know with a comment. I can describe how to set the date and time in the camera's setup menu for you if you want, and/or I can tell you how to make sure you print the date and time on your photos. Otherwise, have fun with your camera and please rate my solution a fixya.

I AM TRYING TO SET THE DATE & TIME TO APPEAR ON MY PHOTOS.

you can only do date and time stamp under function button go to bottom where you can change size of pictures -go to right to W or wide-this is only setting you can do date time stamp on-when you change pic size and go back to menu you will see it highlighted and you can now turn it on-equals about a 2-3 megapixel size picture only-also just leave settings alone and have printer add it-date and time our always in pic data and most printers can add it
