The ink tank could be empty or wrongly installed. Try a new ink tank or re-install the one you have.

  • Anonymous Mar 28, 2010

    1) Turn printer off

    2) Remove the ink tank(s)

    3) Check if the ink tank contacts in the printer or on the tank are dirty and clean them up if necessary

    4) Install the ink tank(s) back into the printer

    5) Turn printer on

    6) See if the error message is still there

If the above does not help, keep reading:

The same error has been found to be caused by the stainless steel Scraper (piece of metal) just to the left of the printhead cleaning station. This had been caught and bent up, preventing the printhead from travelling its full distance and giving this error message. To fix it, just rebend this scraper piece of metal down until the printhead travels past it without touching it

Please, report back here to see if it worked and to get additional help if needed

reinstall the cartridge once again. A distinct click or sound will tell you that you properly attached it on the printer. Any other trouble with your printer? You can learn basic troubleshooting here.

Epson 2100 will not recognise new cartridges

Change ink tank using "How to..." at Epson status monitor. Check contactor that connected to ink tank chip at carriage. Other possibility is CSIC board (behind the contactor)

How can i check which ink are out

Your printer should have come with a disk. This disk would have installed the necessary program that runs printing jobs, as well as keeps track of the ink level. Locate this program on your computer (may be under All Programs, Accessories under the Start Menu).
If not, Go into the Control Panel: (see below)
carsandcomps_3.jpg

Above, you see "Hardware and Sound"; and below that shows "View Devices and Printers. Click on this. It will then bring you into the below dialogue box, of which shows any and all printers currently installed and which are being used. (see below)

carsandcomps_4.jpg

Once you have located your printer here - (name etc). Go into your Start Menu: In the Search Box at the bottom type "programs"; look for the words "show which programs are installed on your computer", should be the fourth in the list. Below is what the list will look like. Find your printer here to ensure it's installed.

carsandcomps_5.jpg

Once you have determined it's installed, you need to locate the printer program in your file system. Once you retrieve this, click it to open it. The program should allow you to view the ink levels. With most printers, when ink is low it will automatically open a dialogue box showing the ink levels for each cartridge. If you're printer is not equipped with this feature, then the only way to know if any need changed is when printing a document, and any color is not present.
I apologize for such a long response, as I wanted you to know how to access these files. If you are printing, and all colors appear to be present, without fading, or "blotchy" spots, then your cartridges are still good. You should be able to do a print test (calibration or alignment test) to determine this as well.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

My TX550W ran out of Black Ink (T103) and I replaced it with a Genuine Epson Cartridge compatible with my printer (73N), My computer status monitor/ink check on the printer shows the black ink is now full...

Sometimes the ink does take a while to come from the cartridge to the print head. Performing 1 head cleaning procedure may fix this. But only do this once, anything after is just wasting ink. Also make sure no part of the air tab sticker has blocked the air hole in the cartridge. Have a look at the new one you have to find the hole. Its just under the sticker you take off before installing it into the printer.
I hope this helps Regards GM

I have a message showing bk tank - code

Its detecting an incorrect ink tank.

The printer is not happy with one of your tanks. Make sure you have PB inks if it is a PG printer.

More probably the job you are printing requires the other black ink tank. Very important to make sure your status monitor is installed correctly, make sure when you send a job that it displays the ink tank levels and not question marks. You should be able to find out roughly how much ink is left through the driver (status monitor) and also what type of black is installed. If you cant, you have not got the 'Status Monitor' installed.

My epson stylus nx105 doesn't strat right after changing the black cartridge

Check status monitor? Is the black ink recognized? Do replacement procedure on How to... Unplug the unrecognized ink tank, then plug again. If all ink tank not reach zero level ink, it must be resolved.

Espson Stylus D92 not recognising cartridge change

Do replacement procedure, follow How to.. on status monitor. When asked to replace ink tank, unplug all ink tanks, and plug only cyan ink tank. Next....next.. Finish. See status monitor. Is cyan recognized (Not cross sign)? If yes, repeat procedure, without unplugging, plug others 1 by 1.
If no, check for chip connector (for cyan) at carriage, or try to use another cyan ink tank.

Waste in tank

If you drop the cover the machine will send the cartridge holder across to the far side of the printer

At that point switch the printer off and by using a torch you will see a heap of nearly solid ink which has been deposited by the cleaning blades into a trough where the ink cartridge normally sits.

Pair of surgical gloves and a small lolly stick or wooden spatula normally does the trick
