Kenmore gas dryer will not start

Dryer will not start. When I push the start button nothing happens. If I put my ear close to the timer I can hear a faint hum. Door switch and thermal fuse have both been ruled out. What is the next step? "On" switch reads 1.60 on the multimeter when I disconnect everything from it and test it. Is that switch bad? It is a 1988, should I take the hit and buy a new one?

Try connecting the wires going to the start button to each other, see if it starts then. You checked the door switch the same way? Thermal fuse or in line resistor?

Dryer drum want turn

I am hoping the problem is the belt. One way to tell is to put your ear to the machine and start it, and see if you can hear the mortor whirring. You should. If so, the machine should be needing a new belt. Most belts last about 5 years. If there is no noise of the motor, you may have either a defective door swirtch ( they are cheap plastic) or you may have an electrical issue.
Be blessed.

Kenmore Elite HE4 gas dryer won't start

I had the same symptoms and it was a bad motor relay. This happened twice within 5 years.

When I push the start button on my Kenmore 700 series dryer nothing happens. You can hear the timer clicking as if it is getting power, but the dryer doesn't come on. Could this be a defective timer?

Check the door saftey switch and the start button for continuety.
My bet is the door switch.
Then look at the timer if both those are good.

Dryer Won't Start

Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top right of door opening. If it is not there you will need new door switch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and does not click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuse is an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Door switch part number 3406109
Thermal fuse part number 3392519

Dryer timer or start will not work

Yes, it does sound like the timer. You could do an ohms test if you have the ability but timers aren't too terribly expensive or hard to replace anyway.
