Toshiba Theaterview Black Screen

Our Toshiba theaterview TV when turned on shows the picture, then goes to a black square covering the center of the screen. The sound and picture continue "behind" the box. Any idea how to fix?

Thanks guys. I've had this problem on my TV for quite a while.
I've been thinking of taking it to a repair shop and having them charge me more than the TV is worth.
I had an older DVD player that did not have a problem but newer DVD players always seemed to have this problem.
You just save me some cash.

Thanks,

I have the Toshiba Theaterview. Was watching it when I heard a sound and the screen went black. The Red Light will come on and glow steady and you hear it click when you try to turn it on or off but...

Something is causing the TV shut down or go in to 'protect' mode.
It is unusual to actually hear a component inside the TV go bad, but you obviously did. Probably in the main power supply or something that normally uses a higher voltage in the TV since you heard it..

Have an older Toshiba theaterview TV, when turn on, we have no picture, no sound, just black screen and blinking red light that just continuously blinks.

Theaterview suggests a rear projection--in that case it most likely is in the convergence circuit--unsolder chips (convergence) and see if set turns on.

Some of their regular TV sets (picture tube) if the light is just blinking means the same thing=shutdown because of a short/problem but a model number would tell me which you have.

There is a possible poor connection of component in your TV or poor solder or that would be the result of Power IC which is already defective...call a technician to fix the poor solder and or replace the IC that cause the problem

My Toshiba TheaterView has no sound or picture

You may have overloaded your audio output with the external speakers(impedance or short wire problem?)as a result the audio out i.c maybe damaged which in turn may have blown one of several fuses in the power supply.maybe regular GMA type fuse or picofuses, you can try replacing blown fuse but if they blow right back you`ll need the help of a repairman

Toshiba TheaterView

Called Tv tech. He said it was the power supply connectivity. common problem in rear projection Tv's. Cost to replace was anywhere between $300.00 and $400.00 dollars. Time for a new tv :-(

Picture goes out when floor jars the TV.

Check for bad solder connections around where the tuner attaches to the chassis. Look for cracks with a magnifying glass solder should appear shiny with no circular cracks.
