My camera wont turn on. The battery is freshly - b10909f.gif

I can help you fix the BUSY Error or Error 99 of your Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D.

Installation of this Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update will solve these problems:

  1. Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
  2. The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a language that is different from the actual language setting.
See the firmware instructions and download the firmware upgrade by following these Fixya Tips :

  1. Follow this link to download a pdf version of the firmware installation instruction guide.
  2. Follow this link to download the Windows Version of the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update.
  3. Follow this link to download the MAC version of the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update.
  4. Follow this link to download the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D Instruction Manual.

I hope that helps.

Change the batteries message keeps appearing even with fresh batteries. The camera turns on then immediately turns off What's up?

This actually a really common problem among Canon point and shoot cameras. There are a couple of methods that have worked well for others.

1. Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries. Then take a regular wooden pencil and place the eraser end down onto the battery contacts. Rotate the pencil to remove any corrosion. Sometimes a lack of proper battery contact will result in the low battery indicator.

2. Take a toothpick and wedge the tip under the battery contact and break it off. This will put more pressure between battery and contacts.

You can also try installing 3rd party firmware at http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_in_Brief
This is a bit technical and will probably void your warranty, but might be worth the try.

1. Is there a battery in your camera?
2. Is the battery fresh charged and full?
3. Is the battery polarity correctly placed?
4. Is the battery compartment door closed complitely?
5. Did anyone drop your camera before?
6. Did you control the battery voltage level?
7. Is your turn on button working correctly?

My camera lens wont open. i tried changing batteries without any luck any suggestions

If you have recently dropped the camera you may have damaged the lens tube (housing). This damage will prevent the lens from moving properly and will cause the camera to shut itself off after a few seconds. If the lens is damaged the camera will require professional repair. If the lens is not damaged, the problem may be battery related. Make sure that you have the correct battery type installed, and that the batteries are fresh/fully charged. If the problem persists, you may have corrosion on the battery contacts inside that camera that is preventing full battery power from flowing to the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the inside camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sand paper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and reinstall them in the camera. This cleaning solves the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

Canon 40d-used camera sunday-took cf card to store to make pics-

Try cleaning the contacts for the batteries with a pencil eraser. Make sure you hold the camera so the eraser debris falls OUT of the battery compartment as you clean. Also make sure the battery door latches properly, and that the batteries are correctly oriented.
