My psp 1000 does not charge and no orange light appears when the charger is connected. I have checked the charger and battery and they work ok. the psp works fine with the battery charged up by a external battery charger.

Plug the charger into the wall. Plug the other end into the spot on the PSP with the yellow outline. Check for an orange light. If it's on, let it charge until the light turns off. It it's not on check connection. If it's still no charging, take out the battery and put it back in. If it's still not charging remove the battery and try to turn it on. If it will no start, your PSP is bricked.
It is possible that when you connected your charger to your laptop, it fried the capacitors in the charger. The best solution would be to take the PSP to gamestop (or like store) and see if they can use a charger to verify that your PSP is still in working condition.
Remove the battery. Plug the PSP charger into the PSP. Turn it on.
The PSP works with no battery inside. If you're not getting a green light at all, your PSP has some sort of damaged as it should work while plugged in with no battery inside.
These maybe the the problems: 1) Check weather the charger is switched on. 2) Check weather there is low voltage or high voltage.High voltage can damage your psp or the charger. 3) Check weather your psp is in full charge. The lights may not switch on if you have full charge. If you have checked all the above you better buy a new one OR buy or borrow a usb cable, connect your psp to a laptop or pc.But before going to usb mode go to system settings in settings and set usb charge to ON.And now you can charge your psp while your in usb mode. The light will turn orange if it doesn't there is a problem with your psp.
Had service personnel check and it was determined that the battery and charger was good; therefore focus shifted to the motherboard. Due to the cost of the new PSP 3000 being $169.00 and possible charges to repair the PSP 1000, I determine that it would be more economical to buy a new system.
the way 2 know if tis charging is wen u plug in ur charger 2 ur psp on da right a orange light should appear and stay ther eas long as its charging . wen it goes away it should be blank. if this doesnt happen on urs i dont know why. it should have come wiv a anual in ur psp box unless u have bought a used 1 from someone in dat case dey mite have not given 2 u for whatever reason. i hope dis helped=)
Did you charge it first? You need a good initial charge. Depending on the charger, it could be about 6 hours.
Also, remove the battery and check the metal contacts on the top and make sure that they are not covered by anything. Some come with a film to protect them.
Hi there, I am assuming that it was working ok until you tried to charge it then??
I have come across this problem before and you are right about the fuse, there is a fuse on the charge/power circuit that is located in the very top right hand corner of the motherboard, next to where the black power lead attaches to the motherboard - if you repair or bridge that fuse then it will work fine assuming that like I said at the begining it was working before you put the wrong charger in.
If you cannot repair that fuse then the console will work fine if you can charge the battery without using that PSP (i.e. another psp or third party external charger) as there is no fuse on the battery circuit as there would not be a surge in power unlike the mains circuit.
If you need more information or if this reply is not clear then let me know and I'll get an image of the fuse you need to repair.
