Whenever I try to make a skype video call it says unable to connect. I received a skype video call earlier today and was able to see caller but caller couldn't see me. I then tried to download an updated version of skype (don't know if it worked) and now I can't hear anything when placing a video call and it says unable to connect.

A few suggestions... as the problem can be anything at this point.
1. Do you have a firewall? Is the firewall blocking skype from receiving video? (http://www.skype.com/help/guides/firewalls/)
2. Do you and the other caller have the latest version of skype? Same version for each of you.
3. Check the other callers configurations. As he/she might be able to preview themselves in the "Preview Window" for their webcam but he/she might not be sending video to you.
Go to Setting-Network-Operator Selection. Keep it Automatic
Go to Setting-Call-Send my caller ID. Keep it Set by network
& check your line in use. Keep it in Line 1
Click Menu > # Settings 1 Phone settings On this you can change the setting on what to be displayed when you receive a call.
------------ Phone settings → Show caller information Set the phone to display or block caller information on all missed calls and incoming messages
