It's an amplified subwoofer. You have two inputs. Right and Left. If you plug in speakers into the output jacks, you can get a 1/8 inch to RCA and plug in a mobile device and the subwoofer's amp will power the speakers and sub.
To hook it up to a TV, the TV has to have audio outputs (White and red, usually paired with a yellow RCA jack. labeled Audio/Video out)
The 3 RCA type connectors (red, white, black) are all pre-amp outputs, not inputs. (Cut the girl some slack) the black is for the subwoofer. The red and white are pre-amp outputs for either up converting from a 5.1 to a 7.1 system, or for running a X.2 (2 subwoofers L &R). If you are running 2 subs, be sure on one of them to reverse the polarity.
your sub woofer has only one input to make it work. plug in your rca cables into the back of the sub woofer and the other end into the audio out or subwoofer out put on the back of your surround system.
also has 2 speaker inputs so you can expand your speaker setup. plug thos in and you can hook up 2 speakers to th output on the back of the sub.
you will need a line-level converter to use this subwoofer- it is a rectangular-shaped box with wires coming out on one end and red-and-white RCA plugs one the other. The end with the wires coming out will hook to the receiver, and the other end will need to plug into the sub.
Remote wire from Jensen is blue or blue/white. Use Blu/white if there is one. . RCA's, for subs, use the rear if no subwoofer pre-outs are available. If unit has sub pre-uts, use them as the head ubit (stereo) would have a level that can be raised or lowered thus giving you more control over the input to the sub amp.
Does the yamaha have a subwoofer line out RCA type jack? Most receivers with 5.1 output will. Just insert a male rca to male rca patch cable from the receiver to the line in on the subwoofer,( not the speaker wire inputs) Plate on the sub may say low level input, and setup the receiver menu option for SUB? yes/ no to yes, this will direct the low frequencies to the subwoofer.
If your receiver has a dedicated subwoofer line level output, we recommend connecting your subwoofer to this jack. Most receivers will have just one (mono) subwoofer output, while quite a few subs require two inputs. You can use an RCA "Y" adapter cord , which is a cable with one female RCA jack at one end, and two male RCA plugs at the other. Some receivers require menu settings (such as "sub-on" or "front speakers-small") that must be made before the sub output will be active.
Talked to tech support at Onkyo and there seems to be two (2) places you can hook your sub up to. I placed mine in the wrong slot. So please double check where you placed the sub connection.
