Ed5shaxmt10 water dispensing won't shut off

One of two problems could be causing this problem...... First problem can be that the switch that you push on to dispense water or ice is sticking. The second problem that could be is the water solenoid that comes on and should close off fully is sticking open and allowing water to drip and not shut off completely. This is usually caused when the plunger in the solenoid starts to stick due to calcium deposits that has built up on it after time and if the water dispense system is not used that often. If you're not technically inclined, make sure that the repair person does not tell you anything that does not fit the descriptions that I have mentioned above. Hope this helps.

My ice and water dispenser sticks. I have to open

The door flap may not be opening and closing completely thereby trapping the ice. There is a solenoid that operates the door that could have stopped working. Can you hear it?
The hinge on the door could be broken or the bracket it goes in could be broken. You'll have to look to see what's wrong.

Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components.

ICEMAKER FROSTING UP

Try to take some ice from the dispenser. Remove the glass and open the freezer door to look down inside the dispenser chute and see if the trap door has re-closed. If it remains open warm, humid air will enter the ice bucket and gradually freeze the cubes together. Trap door remaining open is generally caused by a rusted electrical coil which pulls the door open electrically then sticks, unable to re-close. Coil is located behind the panel that operates the dispenser. Relatively easily accessible.

Ge, tfx26kpda ww, ice maker only dispences crushed ice

At least yours is making ice. Mine wount even make ice. While toubleshooting my prob, I notice a metal rod on the bottom of the ice tray. This rod opens and shuts a plastic "trap door" in the tray. The position of that door determines whether the ice is crushed or whole. If the trap door is open the ice falls through the dispenser freely. If the door this closed the ice is force thorugh metal teeth where it is crushed then dispensed. Open the freezer door and take the ice tray out. You should see a hole at the back of the freezer that the metal rod goes through. In that hole there is a plastic square that moves up and down. If the set your dispenser to crushed ice, leave the door open, push in the door switch at the bottom, and press the dispenser. The plastic square does nothing while the motor is turning. That allows the door to stay closed and forces the ice through the metal teeth. If you set the dispenser to whole ice and do the same thing the plastic square is suppose to lift up forcing the door open and letting the whole ice drop freely. The plastic square probably does nothing even if you set it to whole ice. That mean the trap door never opens focing the ice to always get crushed.

Unfortunately, I have no solution because mine works and I had no need to investigate further. I hopes this helps you figure out the problem though

Good Luck.

No water or ice through door

sounds like the dispenser assembly is not sensing that the trap door is opening fully, so it wont send power to the auger motor or fill valve. If you are pretty handy, you can disassemble the door and take out the dispenser assembly and try to take the assembly apart and correct the throw on the trap door. Otherwise, I'm afraid you need a new dispenser to the tune of about $250 parts and $225 trip and labor. Good luck!
