Overheating: If the internal temperature of the console gets too high, it will shut down to prevent damage. Make sure that the vents on the console are clear of any obstruction, and try not to use the console in a hot or poorly ventilated area.
Power supply issues: If the power supply is not functioning properly, it can cause the console to turn off unexpectedly. Try unplugging the power cord from the back of the console, waiting a minute, and then plugging it back in to see if that fixes the issue.
Hardware failure: If the problem is not related to overheating or the power supply, it's possible that there is a hardware issue with the console itself. This could be caused by a variety of things, including a faulty motherboard or other component.
Hook up to tv like normal....Hold down power button for 10-15 seconds or until you hear 2 beeps. If it shuts off, just turn it back on and that will reset your audio and video out from ps3.
when that message appears press the PS button on your controller and your controller will turn on, follow the steps on the screen after shutting it down it should be back to normal, all you have to do is hold the O/I button for 2 seconds, it will turn off after that press the PS buton on your controller and it will turn back on

blinkin red light usually means hardware failer the only 2 easy tricks to try that wont void your warrenty is #1 remove the hard drive
and boot it up without it and see if it boots and says no hard drive
then shut it down and plug the hard drive back in if it works now then
was just a drive error if it goes back to blinkin you have a bad drive.
#2 the fan test that also seems to clear any over heating or other blinkin light problems --- turn the ps3
off for 40 seconds by the switch on the back then hold down the eject
button and flip the power switch back on while still holding the eject
button and see if that clears it.
